    Sreaminghost - what's happened?

I'm guessing this isn't good news, or I'm very tired and not seeing things properly...

    - SAM2 Can't connect to our Screaminghost server
    - Their web site seems to have changed to one of those 'search' sites
    - A whois search shows their domain name expired 31-Aug-04

Anyone else notice this? I think I better find a new host sharpish - and I just paid Screaminghost for another month

EDIT: their web site is supposed to be www.screaminghost.com

Umm...no, that looks like a vanishing act to me. I'd file for a refund. Hopefully you paid using PayPal.

Yeah I did use Paypal. Oddly though, when using an IP address the servers are all accessible so we can still stream for the time being. How long for though, that remains to be seen...

Well to me it looks like Rick has just missed his domain registration.

Of course when this happens, the domain will be locked (and therefore all the user friendly aliases he uses for the servers) will be too.

I remember this happened a few months ago with screaminghost, to all there customers i would say connect to your stresm via the ip address and make sure you have a forwarding address linked to the ip and not the screaminghost forwarding address so you and your listeners always have a connection just save all the unecessary grief

We also carry screaminghost on a relay. We are having no problems as well. Screaminghost has been very good with us.

Yeah we've been able to stream without a hitch when using an IP address, but DNS had changed. Only www.screaminghost.com would resolve - to a web site peddling gambling and insurance sites. Individual streaming servers wouldn't resolve, such as fizz.screaminghost.com

Everything seems fine though this morning. I'll email them to ask what happened.

Rick at Screaminghost emailed me about this, apparently their domain name registrar didn't automatically renew their domain name.

                            All sorted now. :-)
