what i meant by no plugins installed, is that i didn't install any plugin besides the ones that come with winamp (i was in a hurry when i wrote the other post).

i have in_wm.dll v3.01, but i don't know what version is enc_wma.dll (it doesn't say in the properties of the file)

drmclien.dll: v9.0.0.3250
wmvcore.dll: v10.0.0.3646

Well I can see that you've got the WM v10 codecs installed, but your drmclien.dll is from v9, so you could try replacing it with this one:

DRMClien.dll (v10.0.0.3082)

I advise that you backup the existing version first.

We've had a fair few internal builds since. Some new stuff has been dropped in that just haven't been up to even our testing, let alone public testing.

Hopefully things will suck much less than they do now, otherwise we're going to have to fend off quite a few complaints come release day.

You guys keeping the good stuff for yourselves huh? LOL

I did a format today (thank you StarForce , some of you might know what I'm talking about), had a clean system with nothing but drivers and essentials, and installed WA 5.2. First thing, my PC would crash occasionnally, giving me the BSOD, or just hang. It might be WA and it might be not. So if anyone got the same problem, please let know. If not I'll consider myself a unique case...

If you don't play music and your windows crashes anyway, it is certainly not the fault of winamp. Or veeery unlikely. Rather the drivers or "essentials". Driver problems rather lead to whole Windows crashes than application problems. I hope that you use a recent Windows. Win95, win98 and especially winME liked to crash without any given reason.

@amano
I'm using WinXP SP2... it crashes WHEN I listen to music, else I wouldn't post the problem here, duh :P . And again, it does not do so immediately, maybe after 20-30mins. Maybe it's a coincidence that it happens when I'm using WA, that's why I'm gonna get through the minidumps to know more. And in the meantime, I wanted to know if others had the same ploblem. If not then I'd call myself an exception to the rule.

Verifing IE 7 bug/ conflict

The memory could not be "written".

Click on OK to terminate the program

For more information, see Help and Support Center at
URL submitted by user.

Confirming the error message recieved by Darken.

Winxp sp2 fully patched as of 2/9/06
IE7 7.0.5299.0
winamp 5.2.393 beta

Only difference is the referenced memory location. On install with any of the three beta versions(regardless of how many times I install, reboot, ect) I get this error;
**the instruction at "0x7c80979d" referenced memory at "0x010d0024". The memory cound not "written". Click on OK to terminate the program**

this is as the install is almost complete, then, when you click ok, it pops up the winamp install screen with the option to finish the install.

Winamp will open and play, verified beta build # as the current beta build 0f 393.
Also, at every closing of winamp I recieve the same message as above.

no current 3rd party plugins of any kind. this is verified on 3 seperate machines, 2 amd and 1 intel. all with currently patched and updated winxp sp2. all with same version of IE7. I have 1 machine with IE 6 that I will attempt to install the latest build of winamp, then IE 7 and see how that goes. Hope this helps.

PS. goofed and created new topic instead of replied to the beta forum. could some nice important person delete it for me. Sorry for the trouble and TYIA

i got an error while synching my ipod...

heres the exact scenario....

Specs:
-------

XP Sp2
P4 1.6
256Mb Ram
Clean install of Winamp beta in a seperate folder
5th gen Video Ipod (60 Gb)

Scnario
--------
- I already had my music library synched with my Ipod using iTunes...
- I put some files into my music library (in winamp beta), not all my music but some files just to test synching with ipod (those files where podcasts).

- Connected my iPod (it was recognized correctly), and pressed synch...
- Files where being transfered..
- As soon as file transfer was done i got this message (check attachement image)

- I checked my ipod later, I am not sure if the files where synched correctly cause i already had them on the ipod... but what seemed to happen is i could no longer find those songs under the Podcasts menu, but i can find them under the genre/podcasts menu.

hope this explanation helps debug the problem..

In latest beta...

When using the Randomize or Reverse list feature (in Playlist Editor > Misc > Sort), the line that was highlighted before stays highlighted, instead of the file.

i.e. Items in playlist, nr 3 is highlighted (i.e. is playing / is played last)
1 Blah
2 Dum
3 Dom
4 Huh

After randomization that becomes...
1 Dom
2 Huh
3 Blah
4 Dum

In earlier versions, it would be...
1 Dom
2 Huh
3 Blah
4 Dum

It still has the old behaviour when using Sort by title, filename or path & filename.

great stuff. works very smooth with my zen touch [MTP].

still a few questions:

1) Is it possible to change the folder structure when copying files to the player?

2) Will there be a time, when I can transfer playlists to my Zen?

3) Is it really not possible to play songs from the player? I know Realplayer and Creatives Mediasource can do this.

Seriously, it currently blows; but myself and others have voiced our opinions on many occasions, and it is getting better. Hopefully it'll either make the grade by 5.2, or it will get dropped for the time being. id rather not have to spend my time extinguishing the flames on the forums if it gets released as is.

Course, id rather see the crashbug im currently experiencing whenever i open video files fixed :/

I'm trying to use WinAmp (v 5.2.0.393?) to sync between my Zen Touch and my computer. It looks like it shoudl work really nicely, the only problem is, when I click sync or drag and drop files from my library it only adds like 15-30 songs to it and then claims it can't add anymore b/c the device is full even tho it reads the device as having like 37gbs of free space. It recommends I try autofill and whenever i try that it crashes. What do I do

To my knowledge, not one of us is willing to install IE7 Beta to confirm, or try and track down where any of these bugs lie.

I dont have access to a virtual machine, I use firefox, and you cant install IE7 alongside IE6 so as to not destroy your machine in the process.

The easiest thing we can do right now is join the list of things that will crash on your machine if you install IE7.

not to go too OT here, but you CAN remove IE7b2 and rollback to IE6 (in XPSP2):

Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> enable 'Show updates' (it's the small check box at the top of the window) -> expand 'Windows XP - Software Updates'

Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview should be just about the last item in that group.

Benski, sorry for my stupid question, but why did you moved some media library preferences to a new category called "Online Services" of general preferences? It's much more complex and blows general preferences. <-- Sorry for this, after clean install to reproduce the ogg vorbis comment bug, Online media is shown in media library preferences, like before.

I'm still not able to edit Ogg Comments with the library, everytime I try this, Winamp crashes. Clean install, no third party plugin. Winamp 5.13 works fine.

Where is the preference to not allow some thing (I forget now) to automatically connect at exit and then something else that works automatically. Sorry, I can't remember specifically right now. There used to be options in preferences to shut off the auto-connect items, like online services or something, but I don't see it with this new beta. Any idea? Thank you.

Trent:

"Look for new Online Media Channels on exit" in preferences -> Media Library -> Online Media -> Streaming Media Cache Preferences

But some options from "Online Media" in this build seems to be broken.

I think, that it is quite a good idea to move all online options to one place. And to make it optional to install. It will fix all the questions with Winamp phoning home, if you can find all online options with one look.
