Arr The old background colour influences the perception of the foreground colour trick

Very cool though

I even cut the tiles in half in MSPaint and put them together, and the shades match even side-by-side!

Awsome...

A very close Japanese friend I knew a while ago once said to me "Watashi no koto wo oboeta, onegai shimasu...Yakusoku?"

I forgot his name though...

Simply make a circle with your hand (much like a masturbatory form) and examine each surface color. There you'll see:

That's definitely one of the best optical illusions I've ever seen. I still don't believe my color picker. I think it's lying to me. *paranoid look*

I love these things! Optical illusions, that is.

[edit]omg! i just made a seperate layer out of the B square and dragged it slowly over to the A. Try it and watch as your eyes perceive the color actually changing! AHHHHH!!!

you can sorta see it if you let your vision get really blury, so you can't distinguish objects very well, but the colors get much more obviously similar. this works well for those with spectacles

ok ok, or glasses.

Now that really lives up to my name

Even though I copied and pasted B onto A, and it's exactly the same, I still say that ethan_h is a liar

Seriously though, that's very cool.

Are there any good sites with more optical illusions like that? I've seen a couple of sites on the net, but none of them are really that good....

I don't know I am kind of shocked that the illusion is that illusive, it's obvious that they are the same because the shadow from the cylinder changes the shade of what is percieved as the lighter colored square. I don't know maybe I am weired. But when I first saw it I immediately noticed the colors were the same. It wasn't until after looking at it for a while that the illusion of the colors being different started taking affect.

Perhaps if the letter "B" were the same shade as the letter "A" (or vice-versa) it would be more believable. But I'm still in shock. I think my eyes are playing tricks on me.

I used to have some good optical-illusion sites, because I did a graphic design project with them once. I'll have to see if I can find them again.

But now.... I'm OFF TO WORK! woohoo!

www.optillusions.com has some good ones.

This one is nice too

There are only 3 colors: White, green, and pink.
There seem to be two different shades of pink, but there is only one pink.
