most universities have everyone behind a gateway/router, this would be the case for you, you can only broadcast to others on your local lan. If you want to broadcast out you will have to make arrangements with the school to have your server's port forwarded to your Internal Machine IP.

HELP..........
i have this message come up in the server log
<10/10/02@13:46:15> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak) <10/10/02@13:46:15> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (please type something else in the stream title/description field) what does this mean...also other people cannot hear my music. i am a bit confused about what ip address i use. i have a adsl connection and the isp assign me a IP address. do i use this one for people to hear my music or the one given to me be whatsmyipaddress.com. that one was different... also im not sure if im behind firewalls, NAT devices, web caches at the ISP, proxy servers etc. i am using a stand alone pc connected to the net via adsl.......please help |

so, is there a way to bypass that or make it avaibable to other listener without having to ask the my school or ISP to forward to an internal IP like you said? I'm pretty sure they won't forward anything for me. so now i'm behind a router. i turned off the firewall..if im behind a router, is there a way to broadcast to public, other then locally?
