How Do I Serve A Radio Station /w Shoutcast In A Slightly Different Way

I am posting here because of a problem. I am overly annoyed using WinAMP and DSP. It is slow, lags up the system, and crashed Win98 SE when you close WinAmp. I don't want this type of stuff, and since I am a programmer, I decided to make my own thingy like that that can hide in the tray, and takes up all the memory needed without graphics. The question is, how do I stream to the server with that stuff. I can make almost anything. Any ideas? I don't want source code, unless it is in VB, what I want is how the system works.

Your best bet would be to take a look at: http://forums.radiotoolbox.com/viewtopic.php?t=74
