Upgraded to 2.81, Now Get Download Dialog instead of Stream
Windows ME on a Compaq laptop.
Just upgraded from 2.80 to 2.81, after hearing about the security patch. Process was to uninstall 2.80, then install 2.81. Problem, when I click on a Shoutcast stream, instead of launching and playing from WinAMP, I get a file download dialog now and have to explicitly choose OPEN, every time I click a shoutcast link with a .pls extention. I have checked to make sure PLS is selected as a registered file time in WinAMP's preferences and it is. But for some reason this new version is not recognizing PLS extentions. Is this due to the security patch or did the install go horribly? |

In the "Open File" dialog, is the "always ask for this filetype" box greyed out, or can you uncheck it?
What about in Folder Options -> Filetypes, under PLS -> Advanced is "confirm open after download" checkmarked? If yes, then uncheck it. I just reinstalled the new 2.81 (after reading about this security patch thing) and PLS playlist files work exactly the same as they did before . . . then again, I didn't uninstall first . . . I've never uninstalled Winamp, always upgrade straight over the previous installation. The fix is in winamp.exe itself, not in some obscure registry key or settings file.
