Registration process for listeners and other developments for website.
Hi Guys!!
My Indian music radio is doing just great. Though I am not making any $$$ out of it, yet. I am running the shoutcast radio for almost 3 yrs as a hobby and love for Asian-Indian Music. I need a few developments to be incorporated into my website. I was wondering if there is anybody who could help me in doing that. I need the following for the website: 1. A registration process for the first time for listeners. 2. The email ID of the listener should be their username. 3. Right now the winamp(or media player in the users computer) opens up as soon as the radio-link on the website is clicked. I have seen another radio station's webpage, where as soon as the listener clicks on the link, the media player opens inside the webpage itself, there is no need for the computer to have winamp or any particular media player. Thanks a million again, also, Wish you and Anthony a very very HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR!! Regards |

the computer still needs media player to embed itself into the webpage. and to do this i think you would have to stream in windows media format not mp3. with shoutcast there's no way to block listeners from tuning in until registered. they can always tune in directly from the shoutcast listing.... so, you would have to be a private (unlisted) server, and use some sort of scripts/databasing to hold listener info on your website. not a fun task for you or the listener.

Dear DJ AmPs,
I am willing to go as a private radio broadcaster, I dont really like to be unlisted on shoutcast, but there are a various reasons I need to have the email addresses of my listeners and have a log in system for them. One of them is that, my IP address changes and then they are not able to listen to the stream till they come back to the original website and click on the fresh link. Will you be able to develop such a database script for me. I am willing to pay you for your services but do not wish to spend a lot. Thanks in advance. Regards Festerhead I am eagerly awaiting the developments you mentioned

You can get a static name, such as foo.bar.com, for your dynamic ip at http://www.no-ip.com
Then, your links will be: DNAS link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport Listen link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport/listen.pls |

Hey, I have a domain that I own... how would I make it so that if you go to say... "www.domain.com/shoutcast" or "shoutcast.domain.com" that it would link directly to my stream rather than having to type an ip address... Also where would I find tools to display what songs I'm playing, or to request songs and whanot... I haven't looked too hard, but thought I'd go the easy route and post
Thanks.

1.
Your domain needs to resolve to your ip address. Register a domain name and see if your ISP will add the appropriate DNS entries to your ip. Or, you could go the cheaper route and (even if you have a static ip) get a static name from http://www.no-ip.com Then, your links would be: DNAS link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport Listen link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport/listen.pls Instead of: DNAS link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport Listen link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport/listen.pls 2. Check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: General SHOUTcast Information -> SHOUTcast ToolBox (All sorts of nifty add-ons for SHOUTcast) |

integration with ad-insertion services
you can leave that off, I do not mind momentaraly going to a radio-stations site to see what else they have to offer, as I start listening to them but I will not listen to adds on the net, I would listen to commercial radio if I wanted adds. I allready have to pay for each mb I download, (I'm in Australia), without streaming adds chewing through my download quota. |
