that is when the file listen.pls is downloaded from the shoutcast webserver thing.
It just tells winamp or whatever where to look for your station.

I also had a concern with the Pathfinder Download. Is it normal behavior for IP's using "Pathfinder Dowload" to open multiple connections (usually 3-5) and keep these connections open for extended periods of time (in my latest case about 10 minutes, usually much more, see log excerpt attached). Is this person accessing through my shoutcast web interface or is other software being used??

<01/30/03@21:28:27> [dest: 64.12.96.169] starting stream (UID: 454)[L: 6]{A: Pathfinder Download}(P: 5)
<01/30/03@21:29:47> [dest: 64.12.96.169] starting stream (UID: 455)[L: 7]{A: Pathfinder Download}(P: 6)
<01/30/03@21:29:47> [dest: 64.12.96.169] starting stream (UID: 456)[L: 8]{A: Pathfinder Download}(P: 7)

*snip*

<01/30/03@21:38:27> [dest: 64.12.96.169] connection closed (600 seconds) (UID: 454)[L: 7]{Bytes: 1449816}(P: 5)
<01/30/03@21:38:35> [dest: 64.12.96.169] connection closed (528 seconds) (UID: 455)[L: 6]{Bytes: 1306296}(P: 6)
<01/30/03@21:38:35> [dest: 64.12.96.169] connection closed (528 seconds) (UID: 456)[L: 5]{Bytes: 1305568}(P: 7)

Three to five active connections from one IP is a lot when I only have 15 connection available with my limited upstream bandwidth. In one instance other connection requests were getting dropped because one IP had multiple connections open and max limit was reached as a result.

Pathfinder download is a stream ripper, they steal your stream, ban them, they clog up your bandwidth for what, nothing and they are not even listening..

Pathfinder download is not a stream ripper. Pathfinder download opens up when someone from AOL tries to open your stream, it happens other times also, but mainly when someone from AOL tries it. It opens multiple connections because they click on the link to your stream more than once, trying to get it open.

(Mars) Pathfinder download is caused by the relative proxmity of Mars to the Earth thereby allowing Martians to piggy back on unsecure wireless access points.

Pathfinder is an Internet mp3 sniffer.
A simple Google search would have revealed as much.
