mic fading problem

When I press the "push to talk" button the wave volume goes up/down but the mic does nothing. Also for some reason when I run the server in advance mode the sound has so much bass it is impossible to listen to.

I tried the same settings on my mates pc and his works fine.

My sound card seems to be Intel(R) 82801 BA/BAM AC'97 Audio Controller. I am running XP Pro but so was my mate. I am using the last version of Winamp 2 and the newest DSP and Server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
