Router use? (Problem..)

OK, I realize that it says no routers or NATS, etc.. but I still want to try!!

I got the server running, and even got the shoutcast DSP connected to it..I can broadcast and everything (although it says 0 bytes sent in the DSP). So, I got someone else to try to get on, and it says server unavailable...(Before this, I opened the needed ports ..8000 and 8001...)

I also have 2 computers, so I got on the other computer and tried to connect and listen to myself and the music..I got this box:

HTTP Login Required:
Realm: Linksys
Enter your login and password in te form of:
login:password
<textbox>

So I put in my login and password for the router and boom, I'm connected and listening...

But, then I realize that my DSP isn't transmitting anything..it says I'm connected, but it says 0 bytes sent...so what's going on?!

First off SHOUTcast can work with a NAT router, it just needs to be setup correctly.
All you need to do is forward port 8000 (TCP) to the machine on the LAN running the DNAS. Do the same with 8001 if you want to allow a source from outside your LAN.
Now as far as your problem with the DSP, first what type of files are you playing in Winamp (i.e. mp3, wma, CDs, etc.)? Also use the internal IPs for your DSP (i.e. 192.168.1.xxx) or 127.0.0.1 if the DNAS and DSP are on the same machine.

Ok, I've forwarded the ports, but I still can't see if it works because of the fact that I'm still not broadcasting anything. It says 0 bytes sent...

In the DSP, it's set to connect to: 127.0.0.1 (because 192.168.1.100 [this comp] wouldn't connect..)

So then I set the DSP to just connect to my public ISP, and it will connect but it won't broadcast a thing..

oh and I'm playing MP3's and then trying to talk too..

It looks like you were up and running with 4 or so listeners, so you managed to get it worked out?

Yeah, I got it, but I had to go back to using DSP 1.8.0. That's the only way I could get it to send information.

Oh well =(
