skipping problem

Hello. After searching for similar threads and trying some things the problem seems to remain. As others have pointed out it mostly plays fine but skips when playing short ID's and the like. Increasing the buffer seemed to help somewhat but still does a little twitch at the start, say if 5000 ms it will do that five seconds before the next track etc. Oddly before this never happened, it only started recently, so something has changed. tried defragging the hard drive, updating windows just for certain, increasing the buffer in the crossfade plugin, playing with prebuffer.. the dnas plugin and server run on the same machine so 127.0.0.1 works. The problem grows worse over time, and for some reason worsens after switching to a new playlist. admittedly trying to run two streams off a dsl probably pushes it, but the problem exists both on the local network and when others listen. the host winamp sounds fine. the host machine runs a 2.4 ghz processor and win xp pro.
