sound cards

Hello. I'm looking to start an internet radio show and wanted to know
if there are any good sound cards that have digital inputs (you know,
the red and white plugs).

Also, are there any websites that talk about internet broadcasting
and the how-to's?

Thanks.

red and white plugs are in fact analog. the audio would be converted to digital inside the sound card. some high end cards have "red and white" rca connectors right on them, but any sound card can have an adapter plugged into it to accept RCA jacks. probably your best bet for performance vs. price is a soundblaster live series card. you can buy an adapter at radio shack to hook rca's up.

an rca jack is just a connector. there is analog and digital connections that both use rca connectors on the cord.

so yes i spose, its good that things, in general, exsist. if youre asking about a usb soundcard, then yes, i also think it is good those exsist.

heheh.... other than that im not sure what ... can you repeat the question?

if you need a card with great drivers (even for multi-card setups) and you also want nice quality analog ins/outs... check out this card:
http://www.staudio.com/products/dsp24ve/

i know of a few impulse tests that show how an maudio card beats it slightly, but its at below 110db so anyways, its gotten a ton of really nice reviews in reputable magazines... and i think it sounds great! the drivers are great, and with almost zero latency it works great for my processing machines i build - they can be used for "offair" monitoring without any precievable delay.

spidf optical is the way to go, at radioio we havnt had a single signal breach in many months - from the source machine / processing / distribution, to the encoders. these days you can easily build a full station into a single rack, including a few servers. daisy-chained optical is perfect for that, and theres NEVER any need to worry about volume level, clicks, pops, sh|t, etc....

happy hunting

go to radio shack and get an adapter to use your current sound card with RCA's. why buy another sound card just to get RCA hookups!

subject - digital soundcard, not rca jack.

i dont think you should buy a new soundcard just to get rca outputs.

i was refering to a nice card which has digital ins and outs (what this thread is about) that also has high-quality rca analog ins and outs.

there are quite a few digital only cards on the market, but most of them are at least the price of a dsp24value. just thought id refer them at the webpage so they could at least check it out....

k?

a new live board, mackie 2404, with these in the round
http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/prod_minidac.html
http://www.apogeedigital.com/products/prod_minime.html
theres my processing and few other things patched in, and then the distribution and encoders. =)

counting the 7 new channels, we have near 50 machines just for audio at radioio (not counting stream servers, website, etc...).

by late march i'll be managing 15 channels, a total of 120 streams at radioio alone (not counting server clustering), imagine that...
