Dj'ing, 2 soundcards
I'm using AtomixMP3 to mix tracks with 2 soundcards. Soundcard1 is broadcasting and Soundcard2 is for monitoring the cued track for the mix. I set my shoutcast plugin to Soundcard. I have my Record setting set to "What You Hear" on both sound cards. When I play a track on channel A for ex. everything is fine until I flip the switch to channel B to monitor the cued song. The input levels on shoutcast drop to near -inf. (this is when the cued song is stopped). well, this shows that the broadcast is being cut and my listeners hear no sound when this happens. The only cheesy way I can "remedy" this problem is to cue the song and hit play as quickly as I can to keep the input levels up. I would think that if shoutcast had an option to choose WHICH soundcard you want to use instead of just Soundcard and Winamp, it would fix this. Any help someone? or is there an alternative program to broadcast to Shoutcast servers?

I have sort of the same issue. Me and some mates are trying to put up a online radio, we all use Traktor Dj for mixxin. In this application we splitted the front and rear speakers, front for master and rear for monitor. This way we have 2 channels who dont interfere with eachother.
The problem is with shoutcast on all settings it plays both front and rear, so then the 2 channel setting is useless. Is there a solution within winamp/shoutcast or should i go look for another application??? |

ok, i figured out the answer to my problem. go under sound/media properties under the control panel and look under the audio tab. i chose Soundcard1 as the playback device (which is the monitor) and Soundcard2 (which is the broadcast). go to volume controls and go to the record options for Soundcard2 and set it to What You Hear.
about your problem, i would go under the volume controls and look at your record mixer. checkbox on Front Speakers instead of Mic or What You Hear. If you don't have those, try updating your soundcard drivers. This way, it will only broadcast the front outputs and let you monitor from the rear. |
