on-demand stream (Invalid Resource) help pls.

Hi All,

Before the flames, I have checked the FAQs and followed the instructions for the on-demand setup.

I have my content directory set in the config file, and the properties of the shortcut do specify Start In: the correct directory for the Shoutcast server.

I attempted a couple of tests with the scpromo.mp3 file in the content directory using :

http://myserver:8000/content/scpromo.pls
This returns an error 404 / Invalid Resource

I tried accessing the mp3 file directly with
http://myserver:8000/content/scpromo.mp3
This returns the same error.

This particular server (I have 2 of them, one win32 the other linux) is installed in:
C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\

The sc_serv.ini contains:

ContentDir=./content/

(with the trailing slash, as recommended in the FAQ)

The shortcut properties contain:

Start In: "C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\"

Still no joy...

any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Leland

Have you tried putting the slashes the other way around so ContentDir=.\content\

I can't remember how I got this working, but it was something like that

aha.. found the problem...

it appears that the config file parse is very sensitive to white-space at the end of the line.

I just redid the line to ensure that there's no white-space at the end of the line and it worked... well .. sort of ...

It will now access the mp3 files directly with
http://myserver:8000/content/song.mp3

but trying to access it using the dynamically generated playlist (as in http://myserver:8000/content/song.pls ) still returns 404 invalid resource.

Oh well.. at least the essential is there... though I'd prefer to use the playlist version of the URL to somewhat protect the files themselves.
