Question PS vs PSP!

Which is better? Photoshop or PaintShopPro? Let the flame war begin!

Nothing rules over anything.

Paintshoppro and PS have their own strengths and weaknesses.
It's simply a choice or preference. there's no need for a flame invite. Besides, me and eh?one are probably the only PSP users here. I think that this is considered a PSP-user bashing thread.

I actaully use both.. PSP more though. When I need some particual effect, I turn to PS, though PSP is my general GFX proggy. Nuff' said.

That's not a question, it's a scientific fact that photoshop is better than paintshop pro!
lol just joking
but I tried both, and ps is much more intuitive and user-friendly that psp.

Trying to start a flame war eh?

Photoshop can be used with ease after a bit of practice with psp, which is a good program for developing skills.

Photoshop and ALOT of other programs like e.g Gimp (yeah a Linux proggie that is also available for Windows) Fireworks MX (The master of PNGs and TOO many website design solutions.
Also Corel suite has some goodies if you have time to play with it.

But cause I used to, Photoshop all the way

PS: Always remember also how many plug-ins released for Photoshop all those years, Pro's choose it cause has support, not from Adobe but from freelancers

I don't even see the point of this stupid thread. We all know that everyone will vote for PS. Besides, this exact debate has been posted a couple hundred times on every forum on the net.

Like I said before, it's just a choice of preference. No need to start a thread aimed at debating about the two.

oh, sry. i really wasn't inviting a flame war, i jsut figured it would come to that eventually, same as if i asked if playstation or nintendo was better (hm...now there is a topic for GD, jk ). I was actually curious. I personnally use photoshop, i've only tinkerd with PSP a little bit. I didn't knwo photoshop was teh norm around here. I figurded it woul dbe kidna 48/48/2 with teh 2 percent bing gimp and paint and others. But since the majority, i guess, is Pphotoshop, i spose a mod can lock the thread, its no fun if the result is known already .

Well I use photoshop for graphic editing needs, but sometimes I start things out in illustrator or even 3ds max. I ussually start off with something else then edit it in Photoshop. the main reason for my preference of Photoshop is the fact that I started out on it and learned it.

the other 2 use Microsoft Paint.

I'm not saying that PSP is a bad program at all, but Adobe has a pretty strong hold on the graphic design community. I wouldn't expect this to change anytime soon.

Now if someone could do somthing about Quark. They make a damn fine publishing app (QuarkXPress), but their additude about customers could be a bit better (THEY'RE ALL THEIVES! WE MUST IMPLEMENT PROTECTION UP THE WAZOO). When I was going to school at MATC durring the summer, it was a frequent thing to have Quark not start up at all, because it said there wernen't enough network licenses (Network Dongle protection) even though we were the only class in the Art Mac labs with a whopping 15 person class (and the school owns a few hundred licenses). Lame. For all of you that go "Quark? Whats Quark? Don't professionals use Microsoft Publisher?" NO

I'd like to meet a mad man who makes it all seem sane
To work out all these troubles and what there is to gain

There's also the small issue of the OS X version of Quark which they've been promising for the last 5 years...

Yea, I'm on my newspaper staffa and we use quark. Damn dongle protection thing doesn;t work all the time. It seems the closer deadline is the more likely the damn thing is to fail or something. We have around 15 comps networked in our newsroom. Ugh, hell

I use photoshop just cause I like the adobe family... easy to move between their programs and what not... and since I'm into all multimedia stuff (graphics, video, web) it works well...

never tried PSP, although I'm sure I'd hate it just because it doesn't work exactly like Photoshop...

to each his own I spose

photoshop is good if u know how to use all the functions for it. although i haven't tried psp i believe that it is better for the less talented gfx people not saying that its only for them as pros use it alike. its all up to personal choice on what u like better

I started using PSP but moved on to Photoshop after finding myself limited by its tools. It may have just required perseverance but I find PS much more intuitive, and as such it helps my gfx work immensely as I find that I'm not messing about working out how to try and achieve an effect! As I said though, it might just be that I didn't persevere enough with PSP!

hm.. u can mostly see which prog someone ois using. the smoother gfx (like e.g. rlf's banner/avatar) are made in psp in the most cases and very much gfx are made in ps. i think, ps is one of the best progs, (in my oppinion the best), but the question is always: how good is the DESIGNER? ... the best ones switch between many progs all the time, i believe (hey.. i only use ps *g* .. don' think wrong )

Frozen skins: Gravestone Betaskins: Mushroom ::-:: The Claw
In development: TechnodropFinished: Draculas Helmet (<-- still waiting for some color themes!) ::-:: Hal's eye

Instead of thinking your the best maybe instead try and learning from then since you are so young you have a lot of time to practice your skills. That was constructice critisism to help him improve himself as a person and a designer, you wont get far with a cocky abbrasive attitude and employers wont put up with it.
