1. how many connection could i accept with a quality of 24kbps on a connection 1024/256 (downstream:128kb, upstream:32kb)?
with what quality i can play music when i want only 10 connections? 2. must i work with telnet if i want to play my radio from an ftp? 3. is it impossible to play with one radio two kinds of quality, something like for slower and faster connections? thx for any answer... |

1. You can safely serve 9 listeners
2. you must have a way to execute programs on the remote system, this can be in the form of SSH or telnet, but FTP is only a file transfer protocol, not a magical mystical SHOUTcast server executing free bandwidth giving program. If you do not have the ability to execute your own stuff on this remote location there could be a reason for this, check with the host provider before running shoutcast. 3. yes you will need to run two SHOUTcast server's on different ports, make sure that you allot appropriate listener max's to each one to stay under your concurrent allowed upload bandwidth. -Jay | Radio Toolbox.com |

Big thx for help KXRM, now i know what i have to do, i tested it now on my local client and it works, ive got an host with 460GB and 350GB traffic, the url is megamixers.org, so that there isnt a problem with traffic or with my provider.
i only worked some times with telnet but i dunno the command for staying alive, i mean if i close my connect to the telnet the shoutcast-server would be down (noob) ![]() but i will ask my friend i think he know what is to do ![]() btw, i read some posts here and i have never seen a forum with so a helpfully support-team like here, go on |
