Trapped

Heres another one by me. The reason i'm posting it is because the fps is awful. Well it might not be with something else but on my computer the movement is slow and blocky and irritating. Any optimisation tips please? I'm afraid i'll have to remove bits of it this time though. Any help would be greatly appreciated

First off, nice preset.

Some optimization tips:
1. Don't need the first effect list. Just put its contents onto the main line.
2. I don't think the second DM needs that big of a grid size. I don't notice a difference when changing it to 12x12.
3. Use a convo filters instead of blurs. Not sure if this actually improves the frame rate, but it is more accurate.
4. Find a faster method to make black lines on the edges of the squares. Examples: n=2 superscopes, bitmap for the whole texture, etc.
5. Also, the first DM's grid size could probably be a little lower. 22x22 looks fine for me at 408x314 resolution.

Tip 4 should make the biggest difference. To be honest, though, it isn't THAT slow in the first place, so you shouldn't be too worried.

Speed is fine here on my laptop.

Stoke me a clipper. I'll be back for Christmas.

I originally made n=2 scopes for it but i thought that was faster for some reason. Thanks a lot it's got an acceptable fps and smooth movement on my toss computer. Cheers

Ah, a P4 at 2.4 is a wonderful thing.
Very cool preset, or at least the main object. The bg is defenently lacking, but this isn't the final right?

Hmm... I wish the lines in the center wouldn't be so repetitive. Maybe still have them in the circular formation, but have the distance from the "center" vary depending on the overall volume/intensity...

<edit...> I wonder if it would be possible to have the background/cube walls slightly responsive to the music (ie. louder = brighter), yet still maintain a high framerate...

<edit2...> Damn I wish I knew how to do AVS... I just had an idea where it could be the same situation as this except without the line things in the center. And make each mini-square (repeated for each face of the overall cube) correspond to a different part of the spectrum/waveform, with greyish color for low/no intensity and the red-orange color for high intensity...

argh...that background and foreground DON'T mix. the water movement is nice but it doesn't respond and it is, afaik, an orthogonal projection (entirely flat). no offence, but looking at this makes my head hurt >_<
