DJ's can't connect

I don't understand why remote DJ's can't connect to my server. I have ports 8000 and 8001 opened on the firewall and people can listen just fine. They seem to have all the right settings configured in the DSP plug-in. Do the DJ's themselves need to have the Shoutcast DNAS server installed even though they're not the server?

nope they dont need to have a shoutcast server on their systems

are you sure they are connecting to the correct ip, by that, i mean do they connect to your server ip address???

also have u given them the right password???

also, does there dsp's give any reason why it cant connect like an error??

Yes, they have the correct IP address and password. They don't get any error. They click on "Connect", the status box says "Connecting...", the it suddenly says "Not Connected".

And what is that ip address?

Are there any errors in your DNAS log?

Also realize that the DNAS only accepts one DSP connection at a time.

Yes, Tom, I disconnect before they try to connect. And the log doesn't ever show anything trying to connect at those times. It would be nice if either my side or their side said *something*. Instead I just sit looking at a monitor that says "no source" and they keep playing the "Connecting", "Not Connected" game. I know... it all seems like it should work.

If there are no error messages then that means that they never reached the DNAS so a wrong password can be ruled out.
It is either a wrong IP, port or port 8001 is blocked on your end.
Let us know what they have as their address and port in the DSP.

I verified that they're using the correct IP address and I have both ports wide open on my end. Same thing.
IP is 68.67.198.12, port 8000
I also had them try port 8001

Your isp may be blocking those ports. Who are you with?

Adelphia. Broadband cable. And since people can currently connect with port 8000 to listen to the music, I do not believe it's being blocked.

Let me verify the connection procedure really quick...

1. I click disconnect in the DSP plug-in
2. The DJ (with proper IP, port, pass.) simply hits connect in the DSP plug-in.

Heck, should they be playing a song as they're trying to connect just to immediately give the connection some data?

Nope...that should all work.

I assume that they are streaming to your server. Check in the sc_serv.ini where it says this...

; ***************************
; Network configuration
; ***************************

; SrcIP, the interface to listen for source connections on (or to make relay
; connections on if relaying). Can and usually will be ANY or 127.0.0.1
; (Making it 127.0.0.1 will keep other machines from being able to
; broadcast using your shoutcast server )
SrcIP=ANY

does your say ANY or something else?
