ICY and Getting listed
I have installed (actually the tech where my server did) shoutcast on my dedicated linux server.
My two questions are what do I tell my tech person to do to: 1: get my station listed on shoutcast.com, and 2: How do I get the ICY service to work? I currently get a ICY 401 message. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. |

Q: How to get my station listed on shoutcast.com
A: Make the DNAS public, have an error free startup, and see "yp added me" in the DNAS log. Q: How do I get the ICY service to work? Q: Send the DNAS a source before you connect. |

Thank you for replying. My DNAS is public so that is good. I don't understand how to "Send the DNAS a source before you connect".

you need to send the shoutcast music, for it to broadcast it. For example, install the dsp on your pc, then setup the dsp to connect to the shoutcast server. The send the stream live to the shoutcast server.
people will then be able to hear that when they connect to the dnas server software. |

Yes, a Winamp/DSP combo source works nicely from a Windows based machine.
From LInux, you could use sc_trans. |

I am "on the air" and broadcasting nicely. Sounds great. I am a broadcast engineer. It is the computer where I am weak
I get a 401 service unavailable message where the song title and artist should be. Other than that everything is working fine. so, how do I get rid of the error message and get my song info in the player?

well kinda
I see now in song history it shows CURRENT SONG after the error message. Originally I bought streams from an ISP not realizing the server software was available. Discovering that I had it installed on my server. I see the old IP address showing in the DNAS instead of my current IP, the one I am using.I appreciate you help. So I guess another question is why isn't the player or DNAS picking up my IP? |

if you go to my DNAS which is http://207.234.248.242:8000 you will see my old IP address in there. Also, I have no idea what my username is. I have a password on the dsp but no username so I can't get into the "admin logon"

username is admin, you cant change that
so does the server log any error messages when you connect to it with the dsp? |

BOTN if you are broadcasting through the soundcard go to the DSP plugin and choose the output tab and click on yellow pages and where it says Title erase what's in there.

well let me tell you what you are doing
you currently are using winamp itself to source the stream, because winamp is not playing anything due to the 401 error in winamp no data is being encoded therefore no data being sent to the server. The server will kick you. What is it exactly you want to broadcast? Another stream? A live signal? A bunch of MP3s? -Jay | Radio Toolbox.com |

ok so go to the input tab of the dsp and set it to soundcard
then go to the title field again and uncheck auto and make sure the field is blank or just put "Live feed" or "Live DJ" or "DJ ??? is on the air" or whatever you want the listeners to see. -Jay | Radio Toolbox.com |
