Holy crap, Dream Theater. Mike Portnoy. JOHN PETRUCCI. *faints*

I just saw DT last night in concert for the first time. We were standing about 12 feet from the stage, DIRECTLY in front of JOHN PETRUCCI. I could barely move, just stared at him, probably with drool coming out of the corner of my mouth. He looked at me and smiled a few times. I didn't catch anything, even though Portnoy threw out probably 8 or 10 drumsticks. Only 4 picks were thrown.

BUT.... after the show, we waited by their tour bus for about an hour and a half... and it was worth it! I ran to my car and got my Change of Seasons cd (I never expected to get anything signed, and that was all I had besides my ticket). Portnoy came out first, and after he signed about 5 things, the tour guys were telling him to get back in the bus. He said "no way, you're gonna have to wait for me" and kept signing. So he was the first to sign my cd *dreamy sigh*. James LaBrie came out then, and I got him to sign it also. The keyboardist came out too, but I couldn't make it over to him before he went back in. Myung never came out at all, but I've heard he doesn't sign much, he's very shy.

And then.... John Petrucci came out. For those of you who are wondering why I'm in awe, he's... well, he's practically a legend. This man is THE most amazing guitarist I've ever seen. Plus he's playing with one of the most technically challenging bands I've ever seen. So he comes out, and he's standing right by the bus, and nobody can really see him, so I went over there and was one of the first people in line. He looked at me and kinda smiled like, "ha, I saw you standing in the audience, try closing your mouth and not drooling so much next time, *wink wink*". So he took my cd and signed it, and I just said simply "*sighhhh* Thank You!" He grinned at me and kind of bowed his head and said, "You're very welcome." I was very close to wrapping my arms around him and screaming, "OH MY GOSH JOHN I LOVE YOU" but there were security guards everywhere

So that's my story... I'm still in shock. I know I'm being girly/childish/whatever, but it was really a dream come true to just see them in concert, and it kind of put me over the edge when I got AUTOGRAPHS from them. I'll have to go to another concert sometime and try and get the other two guys. But these were the three that counted for me anyway... a legendary singer, legendary drummer, and guitar god.

Forgot to mention, Queensryche co-headlined, and Fates Warning opened for them. And then Queensryche and DT played several songs together at the end.

Hehe. I saw the manics live the other week, they were so, so fantastic.

Mention that because people might have heard of the manics.
