Firstly, If you're planning on making a skin, then you should use a template like this instead of the base skin. It's much easier. (The readme.txt contains loads of useful info as well.

As for your question, you change them in a file called PLEDIT.TXT. See the readme.txt in the above template for more info.

////Link fixed. I accidentally linked to the wrong skin before. Now it's linked to "Skinner's Atlas", the template.

Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny.

All my skins: @ winamp.com @ 1K1WS @ Deviantart.com

My latest Flash Project: BreathingEarth.net

Use a graphics editing program. MSPaint, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, gimp, etc.

you don't open the text file in your graphics program. you just find it in the folder and double click on it

Did you click on the *.wsz file? You have to open that with winzip first, best extract the files in a subfolder of /winamp/skins and then you can edit everything you like ;-)

The skin love webring

You don't have to use winzip, you could use any zip program. It's like saying you have to use notepad to open/edit a .txt file, or you have to use AOL to connect to the net because it's the most known, or even that you have to use winamp to play music because you can skin it.

sorry, it just hit a nerve.
Guess I'll shut up about it now...

geekgirlxc07:
A .wsz file is just a renamed .zip file. You can open it in any zip program and extract the files, but some may not like it not having a .zip extension.

In which case just rename it to (skinname).zip and unzip it, in XP you might have to uncheck "hide known file extensions" in your folder options first.
