Joan Jett & The Blackhearts

If you're a rock fan and know your stuff since the 70's, you've probably heard of Joan Jett...But I'm just wondering how many of you have heard or known about her?

Last saturday at the Kentucky State Fair, there was this free concert thing going on, and Joan Jett and her band was playing that night...She's best known as her "I Love Rock n' Roll" song, but I still didn't know much about her, but since it was free, my dad and my cousins hitched along, and we desided if we didn't like it, we'd bust...My dad's heard about her, but hasn't really heard anything else but her "main song"...And although I liked bands like Rush, I thought she would've been out of my time range...Boy, was I wrong...

Her band actually rocked! It wasn't like past experiences with other bigger name band concerts, but this was actually way more than decent for it to be even free! I noticed their lead guitarist was a girl, but really didn't get interested until she started playing solos to a few of their songs...I havn't come across a girl guitarist that's played this good...Once again; Rock!

Only bad thing was that the woman in front of me was more enthusiastic than anyone else in the audience...Although I couldn't get the pictures of the band on stage out of my digital cam for that night (Damn... ), even if I did, I don't think there wouldn've been one picture were her head wasn't in the way somehow... People were also holding up lighters to a few of their songs, when the songs weren't even mellow...

Other than that, it was pretty awsome...Free, rocked, learned about an old band I never knew of until then...

Anyways, back to the original question...

A very close Japanese friend I knew a while ago once said to me "Watashi no koto wo oboeta, onegai shimasu...Yakusoku?"

I forgot his name though...

She's like 49, but she doesn't even look old at all... And that's meant in a good way...

Check out Joan Jett's first band, the all-girl Runaways, the "jailbait rockers".
Joan played rhythm guitar and Lita Ford on lead guitar. Check it out!

Whoa! You see it too?!
