Pop music
dont mark me for stereotyping or anything but i know that people look down on pop music.
reasons: 1. they're for girls 2. they're corny 3. they're SLOW 4. they make me fall asleep 5. no guitar..? (made up) why the hate? i'm 18, and personally like pop songs. most pop songs in my opinions have nice melody, soothes the spirit, have more meaningful lyrics than most of the hit rap/"loud" songs on radio today. is being hardcore the thing to do now and having/showing feeling is just a thing for "girls"? |

Pop is just a big industry that lives off bad singers and bad dancers. I hate it.

winamp does not fit into our current pop culture. Pop culture varies from time to time and sometimes it's not that bad. I just don't like how gay it is right now. All of the girls try to be britney spears(especially the really ugly girls - ugh), and a lot of the guys try to be thuggish with their pants around their ankles, doodoo rags etc. It's this shit that pisses me off. People are so absorbed in trying to be someone else that they completely remove themselves from their own lives. Then later, they wonder why their lives have become so screwed up. People need to learn to trust themselves - that is a vital lesson to have. If you've always done what you want and weigh out the benifets and consequences, then you'll never have regrets.

My problem with pop music is that the integrity of the "artists" can be so easily bought and sold. Everything is a prefabricated profit making ploy, which means nothing is real or genuine. Its a mass of mindless sheep following a corporate tool rather than actually finding out what they really like. If you actually enjoy pop music for what its worth, then good, but people who follow blindly seem somewhat moronic.

I think 99.99999% of people here acknowledge modern pop culture is crap. I consider Nu-Metal to be part of popular culture, therefore I don't distinguish between Linkin Park and Westlife. As long as there's plenty of alternative music I don't give a monkeys. |

Nothing's wrong with slow songs, other than the fact you can't really play them at parties. I have most of my slow tracks filtered out for social occasions. There's a few that make the list (usually the ones with great lyrical content).

Depends on what mood the slow song projects. If its sad/breakup, then I'd rather not hear it. But, a good slow song projecting a cozy two-some fuzzy feeling, I'm up for it
![]() And as far as the current pop scene goes, most is trash. I'm more looking for stuff from the 80's to mid 90's. Granted, there are a few radio played songs out there that I do like, but for the most part, I stay away. |

That sums it up for me ShyShy. I'm hoping the mainstream will become great again in my lifetime. It's overdue, but I'm not holding my breath.

pop means popular (pop music - popular music), so it can't be "looked down at" its suppose to be popular

Wow, this is about the first time I've seen the words "pop music" without the words "gay" in the title.
