Streaming individual songs
Hey, Is there anyway to tell winamp dsp plugin or shoutcast server to clear the buffer after every song?
The reason i'm trying to do this is because i want to be able to go to any other room in my house, get on a machine and listen to the song playing on my server rather than listen to the entire buffered stream which is what i have to do everytime i connect a client to the server. is there a way around it? I want to be able to either synch my client up with exactly what is playing on the streaming machine (not the server). Down to the second if possible. thanks anoop |

Nope, sorry.
Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search on 'delay', or 'buffer', or 'lag', or 'latency', or 'real time', or.... The answer to all is: The buffer allows QoS (quality of service) to the listener. If you want real time, then SHOUTcast is not the solution. ************************** For home listening, I source an FM transmitter from a 256kbps DNAS. ******************** If this is going to be a lan only stream, you can try out the 1.7.1 version of the DNAS. It has a smaller buffer. Whenever a client connects, it should buffer up from that point in time from the DNAS, not the very beginning of the transmission. |

Yes I am also planning to employ a fm transmitter but i figured i could conquer both radio and pc with two stones, but i guess i should just try to find a way to stream the current song or something.
