recomend me some great classical works

Ok. So my friend and I have this thing for classical music (its odd). And I was wondering if anyone knows some good (legaly free, puplic domain) classical scores I could download and burn to CD.
I alreay have ride of the valkyrie, and just wondering what else I should get.
I am not too picky, but I am not too much of a fan of the behtoven type music, but I have not heard enough of it to know for sure.
So just name off some good scores.

Bartok's string quartets are worth looking for. Your local library probably has a score you can photocopy or a CD you can rip. I know this doesn't fit yr criteria free/public domain, but hey, nothing's free anymore.

I know, I dont mind if I have to go to the libray... will somewhat.. I am kindof lazy now. Oh well.
Wait.. score is refering to sheet music? I need to learn this stuff.

Note: most of my selection above is post-Beethoven era.

btw, do you like any of the more mellow tunes, or are you just in to the heavier pieces?

I somewhat prefer the heavier pieces, I just like some more action and chaos in the music, then the slow mellow stuff (unless is is ambiant type music). Well the majoirty of the time. And when I would be listening to the music, I would prefer the heavier works.
Also, I dont know enough of beethoven to really say I do or do not like his works, it is just that the stuff I do hear of his, and know it is his, I am not much of a fan of.

Once again for the realitivly poor post, I once again should be doing homework, but am foruming... I know I shouldnt, so I have to make this quick. The joy of being uber-far behind on some artwork, that is due next monday.

Also... I wouldnt get in trouble with the RIAA for downloading these works, right?
