recomend me some great classical works
Ok. So my friend and I have this thing for classical music (its odd). And I was wondering if anyone knows some good (legaly free, puplic domain) classical scores I could download and burn to CD.
I alreay have ride of the valkyrie, and just wondering what else I should get. I am not too picky, but I am not too much of a fan of the behtoven type music, but I have not heard enough of it to know for sure. So just name off some good scores. (sorry I am in a ruch to type this) |

Bartok's string quartets are worth looking for. Your local library probably has a score you can photocopy or a CD you can rip. I know this doesn't fit yr criteria free/public domain, but hey, nothing's free anymore.

You might be better off asking Xerxes, he's the resident classical expert. And he'll be happy to know there's another kindred soul out here.

I somewhat prefer the heavier pieces, I just like some more action and chaos in the music, then the slow mellow stuff (unless is is ambiant type music). Well the majoirty of the time. And when I would be listening to the music, I would prefer the heavier works.
Also, I dont know enough of beethoven to really say I do or do not like his works, it is just that the stuff I do hear of his, and know it is his, I am not much of a fan of. Once again for the realitivly poor post, I once again should be doing homework, but am foruming... I know I shouldnt, so I have to make this quick. The joy of being uber-far behind on some artwork, that is due next monday. Also... I wouldnt get in trouble with the RIAA for downloading these works, right?

Well, most of the stuff in my list is well heavy
![]() So you should like it. Try these Beethoven works: Symphony No.3 in E Flat, op.55 (Eroica) Symphony No.7 in A, op.92 Symphony No.8 in F, op.93 (No.5 is THE famous one; No.6 is the Pastoral one, from Fantasia) Piano Concerto No.5, op.73 (Emperor) Violin Concerto, op.61 Triple Concerto, op.56 Fidelio Overture Egmont Overture Coriolan Overture Leonore Overture The Consecration of the House Overture The Creatures of Prometheus Overture & Ballet The Ruin of Athens Overture & Turkish March Re: RIAA No problem for me, because I don't live in the USA, lol. Besides, copyrights expire after 75 years, so all that stuff is public domain. ![]() btw, Don't you have record/cd libraries in America? Waaay back, that's how I got most of my classical music. |
