I refer all who voted for Arnold to my previous thread;

Arnolds Secret Enron Deal & The Recall

Arnold will not doing anything in California, he has no policies only sound bites. Just another empty headed celeb who thinks they are important.

It's been said that I could start an arguement in an empty room.....I see no reason to disbelieve this.

Certainly should, but will they? The US media has ignored it. The people of California have been conned into voting for Schwarzenegger so that the big electricy companies can get out of paying the $9 Billion they owe to the people of California. Mr Schwarzenegger will drop the case against them immediatly, that was part the deal to get him elected.

Remember, California is in debt...why? Because Californians want low taxes but high public spending. Who wants these low taxes? The rich and famous. Who wants high public spending? The poor and working class.

Who will Schwarzenegger favour?

It's been said that I could start an arguement in an empty room.....I see no reason to disbelieve this.

This should be amusing...see how bad he screws up California. This reminded me of something I heard earlier today- as you know, most speeches given by the presidents are teleprompted. At one of his State of the Union speeches, somebody put the wrong speech in the teleprompter, but he went ahead and did it all impromptu and it wasn't that bad.

I thought it would be pretty funny if this happened to Ahnold or Dubya, see what they do. (I know that Ahnold won't be giving a state of the union address...I was referring to any speech)

Arnold may never be president of this country cuz he's isn't born on American soil. But the House or the Supreme court can change that law if need be one day....

California was in desperate need of someone new, anybody to replace Davis since he was bad to start off with. There were others like the Vice-Governor who was running, he was leading at the start until Arnold came in.

Californians voted over a more experienced politician (hispanic guy) for a filthy rich actor. I'm sure arnold has as much knowledge on politics as Gov. Jesse Ventura who starred with Arnold in the Predator.

I think it was a good choice, and hell, I'm Arnold will have many advisors to back him up in case things goes wrong, Pray to god there won't be a terrorist bombing in California in the next 4 years.

Heard on a talk show that Gary Coleman was close to Davis, but I don't think he beat him. Would be funny as hell though!

The supreme court can't CHANGE an Ammendment of the Constitution
The supreme court can CHANGE a law
They decide the constitutionality(sp?) of a law, debate the meaning of an Ammendment or hear arguments between states.
The thing about presidents and shit, its in the constitution
To change the Constitution(what makes american the bomb) requires:
a bill being introduced into Congress
3/4 approval of the House
2/3 approval of the Senate
AND/OR
3/4 approval of the Govenerors of the United States
AND/OR
the approval of the President

You need Two out of three

So, although the people voted for Schwarzenegger, they're actually being lead by his advisors? Okay, all/most politions have advisors, but thats what they are -advisors-, I've a feeling Schwarzenegger is nothing more than a figure-head for those who want the $9 billion bill that faces the power companies in California wiped clean.

California, you are about to be robbed of $9 billion by your new govenor...whatta guy...

Hahahah, can you image that Dutch people sometimes wonder if our country and politicians have a good image abroad? And they often have several academic grades, are professor at university and have years of experience in business life. How can California fall for somebody like Mr.Schwarzenegger as govenor? He's just a puppet on a string! I didn't believe democracy would be able to sink any lower since the presidential elections...

Oh whatever. who are you blaming? Arnie for winning? Blame the complete morons who voted for him.
heh. One of his first plans is to take away licences from illegal aliens. Evidentally, as long as you were alive (debatable!) you could drive a car. California is the state closests to a socialist Government, and yet you folks say the sole Electric Company was behind the election? this is ridiculous. This isn't a Tom Clancy Novel, no votes were bought.

California is a mess because they can get any fool thing passed as a referendum in that state. Example: if you're gonna vote to put people in prison for 50 years for their third shoplifting offense, you're gonna have to pay for that, folks. Shwarzenegger will no doubt be more successful at being guv cause he looks better on TV than Grey Davis.

If I lived in CA, I think I would have voted for Larry Flint, who actually had some ideas about bringing in revenue. Besides, compared to Arnold, he respects women.

No. Only a "natural born citizen", or maybe if Arnold is several hundred years old.

As far as how well he's going to do, who knows? We'll see. Better than that used-car-salesman looking guy, Cruz. I just look at him and go "eww". It's his attitude.

I figure Arnold is the least likely to be swayed by "contributions", as he's already got a bunch of money. Regaurdless, what's done is done, and so now we'll just wait and see. We can always recall him ...

Arnies a lame duck anyway.
What the surprise is not that Arnie was elected, but that a Republican was elected. A republican governor in CA? This hasn't been done since Regan. Even though Recalls have been going on there since the early 1900's. The only difference is this one actually worked.

Not so. Pete Wilson was a Republican. It was Pete Wilson, by the way, who created the auto tax that went a long way toward destroying Gray Davis, who was legally responsible for implementing the tax when the deficit reached a certain level.

The interesting thing is that, in an ordinary election, the right-wingers who are supposed to have control of the CA GOP would never nominate a pro-choice, pro-gun control moderate like Arnold. It's going to be interesting to see how this changes the character of the Republican party in the future, not only in California but nationally.

A lot will depend on Arnold's success. It's hard to believe that he can make things any worse, but it's harder to believe that he's going to make good on his promise to address the deficit while cutting taxes, especially with so much of California spending locked in by law. He might as well have promised to go back into the past to kill Osama's mama.

Before Pete Wilson was governor for 8 years, George Deukmejian was governor for 8 years - 16 consecutive years of Republican governors in California before Gray Davis was elected.

I agree with Spiderbaby - Arnold never would have gotten the Republican nomination in a normal election. His social policies are too liberal for the California GOP. Seems as if everyone is either far left or far right.

I don't know much about the politics etc of California, but from what I've read, Gray was hemmed in by the "proposition" laws that the electorate voted for. I'm not saying the guy was a good govenor, but to blame the economic situation on him is a little harsh I think and a little too easy.

I know I've said this before, but it is a question no one else seems to be asking;

California debt = $3 BILLION
Power companies owe California $9 BILLION
Grey suing the power companies for the $9 BILLION
Will Schwarzenegger?

It's been said that I could start an arguement in an empty room.....I see no reason to disbelieve this.

Uh, yeah, NO.

The California debt is > 30,000,000,000, according to most sources I can find, and the state is spending much more than it is taking in.

Yeah, of course Grey Davis isn't soley responsible. But he is the fucking governor. The buck stops there, people.

From reading all these posts, it seems so very negative to me. I believe that Arnold could be a good Govener, and I don't think that he is involved in all these conspiracies. This is a very touchy subject for some, I know. But I think some people just need to smile some more The world may be a better place than you think.

man... you people need to remember how the state of california got into this mess in the first place. It was all of the VOTERS in cali that voted for all of the referendum spending bullshit that Arnold won't be able to get rid of. The minute that Arnold repeals any of the so called 'locked in spending' the special interest groups will be all over him like shit on velcro. Just keep this in mind when you punch those cards in 2004...
