Blur
1) Heroes of British guitar music?
2) Was their last album (Think Tank) any good? 3) Do they have a future? Well........ 1) Yes, without a doubt. 2) It's not bad in places. Far better than Massive Attack - 100th Window. 3) The egos are good for 3 or 4 more albums. |

hm hmm..
blur were once my fav band, they are still right up in my top ten i woulkd think. ive always wanted to be in a band like blur because they all just work so well together. For this reason i didnt like 13 at all. It was just 'the damon show'. I havnt actually got think tank yet, but i really should. People say it didnt get much recognition.. but then again, noone gets recognised herin australia.. ![]() Hmm hmm, i think they have future, but perhaps more underground than previously. I think i would say 'blur' was my fav album all up. Fav track is easy: all i want is light relief, put the crazies on the street give them guns and feed them meat |

.. yes
blur is the band with song 2. 13 was the album before the current one (think tank), and it was not very popular among blur fans. Mainly because the entire album was devoted to the singers ex-girlfriend who he dated for 13 years. So it was a bit of a one man show. PRobably the best thing about blur is that they work really really well together, each song involves really nice guitar/bass/drum/keyboard/whatever parts that just suit the song perfectly. Damon Albarn (the singer) was in gorrilaz and still is... its a side project thingo |

dEUS - isn't that a Belgian band??? Hit the big time in 94/95?
Anyway, I love 13. Particularly Trimm Trabb and Tender. I know the album was all about Damon's separation (every last fibre), but that gave it some energy. It's angry, melancholy in places. I prefer it to most other Blur albums. The Cornelius remix of Tender is also quite interesting. If you like glockenspiel.

yeah.. deus is belgium band..
they got big around then, but got forgotten too quick.. their work since is really amazing. ide recommend their "in a bar under the sea" album to anyone. As for 13, i do like it, but its just not what i like about blur. Maybe if a different band released the same album i would really dig it, but who knows. |

Think Tank's alright - some tracks stand out. It is all Damon though (rather like a solo album). For me, Blur require Coxon. I've heard they're all chums again, so hopefully there'll be another true Blur album.
My favourite Blur track - 'There's no Other Way'. Pure class. |

As discussed orac, the Reading 91 playlist:
Explain Bang High Cool Bad Day Oily Water She's So High Turn It Up There's No Other Way Wear Me Down Mr Briggs Slow Down Come Together Commercial Break Sound quality's good actually. You may have been standing next to the geezer with the microphone.

It's the very essence of '91 in a bottle.
