heh a ferrari...true....im more of a porsche fan though
![]() Even though the RX - 8 has a new engine ... which makes this car "Special". In a traditional 4-stroke piston engine, the same cylinder, does four different jobs - intake, compression, combustion, exhaust. A rotary engine, however, allows each of these four jobs to be done in a different section of its housing. The effect is not unlike having a separate cylinder to perform each of the four jobs. In a piston engine, expansion pressure created by burning of the fuel-air mixture forces pistons to move back and forth inside of cylinders. Connecting rods and a crankshaft then convert this linear movement into rotational motion required to drive the car. In a rotary engine there is no linear motion to convert. Pressure is contained in chambers created by different areas of the housing and convex faces of a triangular rotor. As combustion occurs the rotor is immediately made to turn thus reducing vibration and increasing potential engine revs. The resultant increase in efficiency also means that the engine can be much smaller for equivalent performance of a traditional piston engine. |

For $35-grand, I'd rather have a Nissan 350Z or an '03 SVT Cobra...I like the Mazda RX8, but what the hell is with Mazda and underrating their damn engines?
Bah...If I'm gonna go rotary, give me the FD3S (3rd-gen RX7)...

I'd still rather get my hands on an M3 CSL.
the RX-8 is a good looking car, I will admit that, but I got some bad news for you. unless you continually abuse the clutch, it ain't that fast. a good example is the 5-60MPH test. car and driver reported a time of 7.5 sec. now it did record a 0-60 time of 5.9, but that involved dumping the clutch at 8000rpm. and while I do realize that it has a suspension to die for, the severe lack of torque makes it difficult to utilize this attribute. add about 50-75lb-ft and call me back. |

im currently saving up to buy myself an rx-7 series 4. id rather an rx-8 over a 350z, more powerfull, plus it looks better. gotta love how close the handbrake is to the gearbox too (great for drifting
). only problem is that when i get my rx7s4 cops are gonna be all over me, they have been getting every1 for nothing recently. pulled my mate over yesterday cause they suspected his (stock) tinting was illegal.another car you might like: http://www.pontiac.com/pontiacjsp/gt...&pagename=home which was born from the aussie made monaro (check the 'coupe' series in the link): http://www.hsv.com.au ![]() |

I have a soft spot for Mazdas ever since I (very briefly) had a Miata. They are simply fun cars. It maynot be moving that fast, but it feels fast. Second-hand its the cheapest thrill available.

I dont like the LMS version RX7, and I'd Much rather have a 350Z than an RX8. =)
I wouldn't mind a beastly Toyota Supra either ![]() ![]() This here is an Acura NSX with a custom made shell. She makes 550HP naturally aspirated (restricted). Not bad at all, considering she only a 3.5 litre engine. I want 3. |

![]() Drifting is normally using heel-and-toe techniques (When downshifting, you keep the ball of your foot on the brake and your toes on the accelerator, tapping the accelerator justa bit to keep the RPMs up so you keep the power that's sent to the wheels at level with more than enough power you need in order to execute an actual "drift") to break the rear end free, sliding the rear wheels around and countersteering to keep control (Keeping the balance of the car away from going to either extremes of oversteering and understeering) and come back in a straight line. The Scandanavian Drift (Also known as the Interia Drift for those animated Japanese touge racers [Read: Initial D]) is another method, steering off to one direction, and countersteering in the other direction, using the momentum that's exerted on the rear end to swing it around, breaking traction without using conventional breaking techniques. Either techniques are not only used in drifting, but in rally as well, as the concepts of either racing are the same, only in rally the suspension, chassis, and wheel/tire setups are different, and traction is less found in rally (Unless you're driving an AWD car, in which you have more of it than a FWD or RWD car, but drifting is mainly done in a RWD car anyway). Using the handbrake/E-brake is NOT drifting...That's powersliding, and there's a big difference in the two...

There are too many pics in this thread to deal with, but guys, from now on, if you're going to have enormous pictures in your threads, specify that in the title. Otherwise, IMGs wider than 500 will be changed to URLs.
Having said that, the RX-8 is sex on wheels. Much like the Series 6 RX-7, funnily enough. =) The 8 looked good in X-Men 2, and I laughed so hard when I saw the animation showing pistons pumping inside a 13B-powered 7 in The Fast & the Furious. LOL. =D Mmm.. cars.. *drool*.. now all I need is a good wimmen. [holler] ShyShy!! [/holler] =) Oh, and mcbriar: the GTO is so much uglier than the Monaro, huh? That grille... ugh. =) I'm a Ford man, but I can still appreciate the style of the Monaro. I can't wait for the BA GT, tho.. =D "My heart hates uggos." –J.D. |

I like the looks of the RX8, but it's the rating of the engine that gets me. First, it was supposed to be 250-hp. But then when RX8 owners dyno'd their cars, they found the power rating much lower than what it should be. Fast forward to somewhere around the end, and you now have an RX8 that's rated at about 220-hp at the crank...
How dissapointing... ![]() I'd like to see someone drop a 13B in an RX8, though...Now, that's one monster I'd like to own...
