Housing Dilemma.
my mom isn't the healthiest person in the world and depends on me for almost everything. The lease to the place we are staying in is up soon and we don't have anywhere to go. ...well my mom and little brother don't have anywhere to go. I have a really good friend who is willing to put me up in her basement until I can find a place but my mom and little brother will have to fend for themselves. My little brother is 18 and has a lot of friends who owe him favors and he is shipping off to college in the spring so that leaves my mom. Should I go stay at my friends house? I care about my mom but if I don't help myself I will be stuck homeless right next to her. I hate these tough decisions.

I would suggest finding out if your mom qualifies for any assistance (government or otherwise) before her lease expires. You might be able to find something that will help her meet expenses and pay rent. Of course, I say this without knowing anything about the situation.
It's a really tough decision for you. I haven't been faced with that problem, so I'm not inclined to tell you what to do one way or the other.

Look for housing assistance offices, those associated with the state and private non-profit organizations. Because of your mom's health issues, she could easy qualify for emergency housing funds. But, you've got to get on the ball now. How much time do you have?

I dont know how much time we have. We currently live in low-income housing but my mom and I together make just enough to be right above the low income line. I have started looking for a 1 or 2 room apartment that my mom and bro can live in.
I have an appointment with a loan officer at the bank, I am going to see if I can buy a small house. |
