Is there a way to let listeners hear with out winamp?

Well Ive been testing out my Radio, since i got it to work! wahoo! anyway I noticed a few people got an error that downloading winamp 3 solved. I tested this on my moms computer didnt work until I downloaded winamp. Is there a way i can get ShoutCast to stop shall i say "descriminating" against other music programs, so that they may work in harmony with no errors?

For the .asx (WMP).. put the following in a notepad document and then save it as <whatever>.asx

code:
<asx version="3.0">
<title>TITLE</title>
<entry>
<title>TITLE</title>
<author>AUTHOR</author>
<ref href="http://yourIP:yourPORT/"/>
</entry>
</asx>

Of course, change things to fit your needs.
Note: This only works in WMP 7.1 and up
Note the trialing slash after "yourPORT"

For the .ram file to open a RealPlayer stream, enter the following into a notepad document:

code:
http://yourIP:yourPORT.rm

Then save that as <whatever>.ram

Simply upload those to your website and link them and they will open in the appropriate player.

Do you host the webserver or does someone else?

If you don't and know no one that does, you might as well sign up for a free GeoCities site just to hold your files.

ok so i upload that to a free host or osmethin like that? ok now how would i go about linkin that to the site actual site? I have everything revolving around Proboards and they dont allow u to upload anything because they are for forums so i usually use either tripod.co.uk or Freewebs.com to upload it.

So basically if i upload it to a diffrent host thats not connected to the site at all, how would i link it all together?

You can upload to any webserver. If the address is www.mysite.com and you uploaded mymusic.asx and/or mymusic.ram, then you would link http://www.mysite.com/mymusic.asx/ram

Very simple. I would create a sticky post in your proboards containing the links.

Link using this format: http://yourIP:yourPORT/listen.pls Replace "yourIP" with your IP (which you can find here) and "yourPORT" your portbase defined by your DNAS (server) config file. The default is 8000.

Put in what you want.

The DNAS doesn't stream titles to WMP.

Follow up question

If the fester is still watching this thread, how would you handle the situation where the shoutcast stream is located at http://IP/stream/value in an asx file, similar to how shoutcast.com links some of their files through the .pls
