I haven't got 'a favourite band'. More like 50-100 favourites. It would be impossible to choose between them.

Good call on Dream Theater. They're definitely one of my favorites too.

But my all-time favorite is Living Colour

My perennial favorite is Pink Floyd, and it has been for 25 years. I've got 16 of their albums, and a few more to go.

Among my more recent faves are Liz Phair, Chantal Kreviazuk and Nina Gordon.

A band is a group of musicians playing instruments; none of those would qualify as a real band.

I'm not a big fan of Marilyn Manson...I used to like his music before, though...

I recently found out the bassist for A Perfect Circle (Twiggy Ramirez) was one of MM's ex-bassists...

No, legends are Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Metallica, etc...

The groups you named are mere afterthoughts in the history of music.

Yes Led Zeppelin, Mettalica, AC/DC. But also Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, i just had to say those.

If they were legends then they would be recognised by us, me dawg, spaceplay, cylob etc. We don't recognise them so they arent legends

Acctually, when you look at all the artists we like, there is a VERY wide variety in our lists. Where as yours is basicly one genre. Shows how much you know about music, obviously not alot

'Music' implies some sense of artistry. Boy "bands" are nothing more than corporate scavengers.

Barclay James Harvest
Electric Light Orchestra
Pink Floyd
Led Zeppelin
Eric Clapton ( and his earlier bands like cream etc etc)
Old blues songs
Jazz
having an update on the "chicago"blues at the moment.

and not i repeat NOT playing any of the dancing monkey's shit

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

Actually, that's inncorrect. Savage Garden wrote ALL of there songs. Darren wrote the lyrics and melody and Daniel wrote the rest. Daniel also played all the instruments on the tracks.

So,....

Out of curiosity, what really defines a "boy band"? (You know me...I like black-and-white definitions... )

All male members? So Pink Floyd was a boy band?
Don't write their own songs? So *NSYNC is not a boy band?
Copies other artists' sound samples? So Fatboy Slim is a boy band?
Don't play instruments on stage? So Run-D.M.C. was a boy band?
Their music gets commercialized? So Télépopmusik is a boy band?
Never become "legends"? So Exile was a boy band?

(Forgive my semi-smart-assed examples ) I'm assuming that the correct answer is some combination of these.

(FWIW, I'm NOT a fan of what people generally call "boy bands"...I'm just curious as to what a strict definition of the term would be, if one exists.)

I'm a psychosomatic sister running around without a leash.
