What was your very first 7"?

This......

For the younger forumers - it was the biggest 'house' record of 1987.

7" = 45 RPM? If so, Undercover Angel by Alan O'Day.

Did you buy it with pocket money? I think singles were £1-10 when I first entered the game.... I was on a government training scheme which paid £28-50 per week. Big bucks man.

Way too young for this time period person where people used alien-like forms of musical devices to me...

Gary Numan - Are Friends Electric (1979)

I'm not playing this game any more.

Xmas 1986 if I remember zootm! Of course you were young at the time and had no idea what you were letting yourself in for. Hell, I even liked the Birdie Song.

You're lucky then zootm. At the age of 16 that song was torture.

I have 2 forumers on my list... both for hideous crimes against music. Now then..... do we have any monarchists, Man Utd supporters, U2 fanatics or people who don't put the lid back on the coffee properly.

Oh, and people who use all the toilet-roll without replacing it....?

Richie Valens - La Bamba c/w Donna. Sometime in the late 50's

I think Donna was supposed to be the 'A' side, but La Bamba quickly became the one most played, it's what I bought the record for anyway.

Some other early stuff

Eddie Cochran - Cut across Shorty, Summertime Blues ....
Buddy Holly - Not Fade Away, Peggy Sue ...
Gene Vincent - Be Bop a Lu La
The Piltdown Men - Brontosaurus Stomp (love to get hold of this again)

Didn't buy many 7" and went over to collecting LPs (Blues stuff mainly). Soon after, the first Dylan albums started to appear in the early 60s, and never bought a single again.

Records were damned expensive then, an LP cost a days wages, so we passed the stuff around and made tapes on old reel to reel machines. Now we have file sharing instead

Tread carefully here, very carefully indeed, for Utd are God's own team...
