Someone in the slashdot forum about the release or winamp 5.0 speculated (jokingly) that Nullsoft is using a Fibonacci sequence to number their releases. The Fibonacci sequence has each number be a sum of the previous 2, so it goes 0,1,1,2,3,5... (1+1=2, 2+1=3, 3+2=5....)

Of course that means that their next milestone release has to be Winamp 8.

but that means there were two milestones between 1.0 and 2.0 - truth or fiction?

*consults winampheaven*

hmmm, suppose 1.80 counts, that was the first version with skin support

what an intriguing theory!

keep in mind that 95% (gross over-exaggeration) of the people on the internet don't have a clue how to use it (or are just too damned lazy to look for the answer).

no matter how mant times something is explained to these types of people, they never get it.

there could be an explanation of Winmamp 5 on the front page in 500pt. font and there would still be people asking stupid questions that get answered in 15 different threads.

I don't think that was a gross over-exageration at all, i would believe it to be true if not a greater percentage that the one you quoted!

I would agree with this. There is a very small percentage of people who understand how to use any aspect of the internet. Especially anything other than the WWW.

how about:
'Looking for Winamp 4? - Look no further, it doesn't exist, and here's why..'

Skinning requirements for Winamp 5.

Freeform/Modern skins:
Main Player Window.
Equalizer (Could be part of the main or a drawer).
Control Buttons should be visible (or in an easy to find drawer).
New requirement: Studio Components.

This means basically the whole skin will be skinned, except for the Thinger in the modern skins.
