PSU Help
My computer specs:
Athlon XP 2400+ Thoroughbred (2GHz) 768MB DDR PC2700 RAM Geforce 4 Ti 128MB 4200 Audigy 2 My PSU is on it's way to dying, can somebody please reccomend a cheapish PSU that is relatively quiet, and tell me if I should get a 350 or 400Watt one, and if it's safe to go single fan rather than dual fan? thanks in advance

I cant reccomend any cheap psu's, as they're usually crap. The reason they're cheap is because they use lower quality components, and their ratings are usually bogus. Buy a quality power supply with a high rating and you wont have to upgrade it for years.
I'd suggest an antec. Probably a truepower 430w (while a 350w would probably be ok, it would leave you with more headroom for upgrades). They're available just about everywhere, not overly expensive for the power they produce, and are quiet enough that you wont hear it over your case fans. Zalman's psu's are great if you want a silent system, but they cost more than a simlarly rated antec. Unless you're running a silent hsf, quiet hard drives and low rpm case fans they arent worthwhile. Enermax and topower are also good (i use a topower myself) but they're more expensive than antec's and can be harder to find. Pc power and cooling psu's are the best, but they're so expensive that the extra cost is hard to justify. |

The trueblue's are basically the same as the truepower's, but they have blue led fans. They cost a little extra, but if you're into that sort of thing it's better than swapping the fans yourself (especially if you dont know what you're doing).
