Spanish Music
Recently I've been getting into quite a bit of Spanish and Latin American Spanish music. I've been listening to Gloria Estefan and some other CDs of my Venezuelan friends in Plymouth and it's all very nice.
I was wondering if people could give me a few recommendations of some decent Spanish music to listen to Thank you ![]() one of my fav songs

If you're looking at an album or CD, then I'd recommend:
'Vuelve' by Ricky Martin Other singles I'd recommend you: Marco da Silva - La Bamba (who can forget that classic? Las Ketchup - Sevillanas Pink Los Del Rio - Macarena El Mariachi (Desperado soundtrack) |

The ever popular parade and beloved pep band song:
SPANIA! "It's like saying give a man a Les Paul guitar and he becomes Eric Clapton, and of course that's not true, give a man an amplifier and a synthesizer and he doesn't become...whoever; he doesn't become us." - Roger Waters |

But I really like the CD and that song is just awesome... Unfortunately I don't know any band names since when I listen to, lets say, Salsa for example (I really want to learn how to dance salsa right, I only know some basic moves...) I never remember who the interprets were, I have to listen and write down some names the next time! ![]() Mia

For Salsa, try Celia Cruz and Tito Puente, both are LEGENDS, can't go wrong with either one.
For Latin Rock, try Juanes, I've currently got two of his songs: Fotografia w/ Nelly Furtado and A Dios Le Pido. And you started out right with Gloria Estefan. A lot of people just remember her music from the 80's with The Sound Machine, but she has done a lot in the Latin music scene. Other genre's to branch out into eventually: Merengue and Bachata. Both are based out of the Dominican Republic and was once frowned down upon by other Latinos for being "country/backwoods". But, in the clubs, that's all you'll hear now When searching for tracks, try WinMX, and type Latin Remix, there are some remix tracks that'll have the genres thrown in and are pretty good. |

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Gypsy Kings yet!
Also if you can find it, anything by Javid is excellent. |

A couple of other tracks to look out for :
Chan Chan - Buena Vista Social Club. Utru Horos - Orchestra Baobab. The second is one of the finest Latin tracks ever recorded, despite the band coming from Senegal in Africa. It achieved almost legendary status before becoming generally available on CD. Knockout track. UJ |
