All 3 NextGen Consoles to be powered by the blue!

Big Blue, IBM, International Business Machines, will make processors for the PS3, XBox2, and Super Nintendo Entertainment System 128 Sphere boy.

It is rumored that G5 liscenced technologies will find its way onto the XBox2. XBox and Nintendo will use ATI Graphics cards. Not sure about the PS2.

Those are game marketing Demographics. Not system marketing demographics. Besides, ESRB != Demographic.

A good example of rating and demographic is southpark. South Parks producers may say that its intended for audiances over 18 but surely its marketed to middle and high school kids. Same goes with Tabaco before Truth.com and all the lawsuits. The same also goes with Alcohol.

Its not that I am likening the GameCube to Tobaco and Alochol products. I'm just saying its marketed towards a younger audiance.

System Marketing is different than Game Marketing

If you want to get down to the nitty gritty about how a system attracts an audience, you might want to ask what "mature" person would look at an Xbox and say "Wow, the snot-green accents on that humongous chunk of plastic really look modern and well thought out." That's because it's not. It's marketed to everyone. There's no single group that Nintendo is trying to sell their systems to. They're just marketing their systems and games to people who enjoy quality, fun video games.

They aren't going to be the same. They are all going to have processors designed or codesigned by the same company.

Intel makes the Pentium 4, Celeron (shitty Penitum 4), Itanium, and Xeon. IBM also makes many different processors. Even though all the consoles will have a chip designed or codesigned and produced by IBM or licensed by IBM they will probably be different chips.

Also XBOX and Nintendo will have Ati GFX cards. I don't know what type of GFX card PS3 will have but hopefully they wont shit out on it like with the PS2, for the developers.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sony decided to go with nVidia for the GFX on the PS3. But that's only my speculation. I don't really care.

It also makes me wonder... IBM is a good processor manufacturer. Why don't they make mainstream processors for computers like Intel and AMD do? The processor in my GameCube might only be 485mhz, but I know it would kick the shit out of my Hewlett Packard.

The GeForce3 was out when microsoft came out with the XBOX and that uses a GeForce2. Nvidia was leader at that point and there was a shift in power amongst the graphics card companies. To say that because nVidia is behind today so they will be behind tomorrow is fucked up.

The next microsoft offering will supposedly use multiple modified G5's in its next console. The next xbox will not be compatable with Xbox one games. eta: late 2005

The PS3 will use a proccessor still in development by IBM called the CELL Proccessor. The PS3 will also have a PS2 and a PSONE CPU as to ensure backward compatibility with both consoles. eta: late 2006

Very little info has been released about the next nintendo console offering.

PS3 will more likely emulate PS2 and PS1 hardware as its cheaper to do and possible given the hard ware specs of PS3. XBOX2 will also likely emulate the XBOX1 hardware.
