iRATE radio is a collaborative filtering client/server mp3 player/downloader. The iRATE server has a large database of music. You rate the tracks and it uses your ratings and other people's to guess what you'll like. The tracks are downloaded from websites which allow free and legal downloads of their music.

Has anyone here used this program? It's really good for finding some independant bands, of almost every genre. The first song I heard on it was a band named 'CARV', truly remarkable. I found out later, they broke up awhile ago.

Well anyways, their active on this project. I signed up on the development newsletter, I get quite a few every once in awhile.

Doesn't work so well on my 56k. It makes it about halfway through the first song then just stops downloading. Was a good thought tho, I'll probably just wait for another mp3.com style website to pop up.

What OS do you have Spazz? A few of my friends have 56k, and works fine on their computers.

Win-XP Home. I tried it twice and it quite right around the 50% mark both times so I gave up. I'll check out blue-music though. Thanks.

iRate Prototype 4

Quick list of changes:
* Using stars instead of text for ratings
* Look at the three-star rating button - its pressed in. I know this is subtle, if its too much so, tell me and i'll tweak it.
* Replaced the 3/5 in the song title to ***. I know this is redundant, it's just to see how it looks.
* I redid the song table layers in photoshop to make them easier to tweak. you shouldn't notice this.
* Added an arrow next at the beginning of the row. this is the now playing indicator.

I'm also going to go back and redo the icons (prev/play/next/playing indicator/maybe the stars) for mockup 5. Up until now, i've been using photoshop presets as placeholders.
