Top 3 Punk CD's

Just finished watching SLC Punk, Damn good movie I have to say, and got inspired. That and the lack of punk threads. What're your favorite punk CD's?

Your idea of punk is different from mine....

AFI are just punks!

Only the top 3, man, this requires some delibaration...

When I was a punk, back in 1976/7, there wasn't such a thing as CD's.

ps. I couldn't choose a top 3 though. Man! So many to choose from! Hmm...

OKay, I've had a think about this too and I've got to agree with ShyShy, time to get old school. In no particular order;

MC5 - Kick Out The Jams

The Undertones - The Undertones

The Fall - The Wonderful & Frightening World of The Fall

Far too many bands to list that deserved to get a mention in a threda like this. I've a feeling I'll be coming back and adding more to this list as I will not be able to list only three....its impossible.

It's been said that I could start an arguement in an empty room.....I see no reason to disbelieve this.

I do like the older stuff like the anti-nowhere league, ramones, etc. I just like newer stuff better, and then usually when it sounds different from other punk. Hence the semi-goth AFI, the punk with Synth's on Tsunami Bomb. Bad Religion is just too good to leave off.

AFI went emo on us...

I have alot, but there are two that I really like...

Millencolin - No Cigar

Goldfinger - Hang-Ups

Both are CDs my sister got for me about 2 years ago for Christmass...

And any Ramones CD does well too...

"I just want to lie in my own crusty filth, eating rancid egg sandwiches, until some unfortunate paramedic has to blow down my door to find my bloated and pasty corpse wedged between the nightstand and mattress stained with Bengay and Robitussin DM." - Greg Gutfeld on sex and seniors
"Syphilis does not stay in Vegas. Debt collectors do not stay in Vegas. Dead hookers stay in Vegas, but the guilt stays with you forever." - Bill Schultz

Mega City Four
From "Who Cares Wins", 1990? Lyrics by Wiz.

You think you're living in a jungle
But you're locked inside a cage
The prison is unyielding like your anger
And the locks are seizing up with age

See, want, take, everything
Competition is the way you live
Confrontation, that's what you respect
My reaction's what you don't expect

I don't wanna beat you
I'm not into making you look small
I'm trying to reach you
I want us to break down all the walls
The misunderstanding
Believing the world's against you
The instinct to strike out
Resentment and suspicion

I see you can't accept I'm no threat
I won't be persuaded ignorance can win
I fear nothing
I am not afraid
Violence won't hurt me
Violence is dead
Broken bones will heal
And broken glass won't alter
The words I put inside your head

I won't be dissuaded
'Cos we are bound to fail while ignorance prevails

Nos 1,2 and 3. chum.

Millencollin and Goldfinger are pretty good. The only real Goldfinger song I have is the one off Tony Haw, Superman. I did go out and buy Pennybridge Pioneers awhile back. Damn good CD.

Complete Discography by Minor Threat -- It's not really THAT hardcore.

Singles Going Steady by the Buzzcocks -- Wow, a punk band with cool melodies, harmonies, et cetera.

I'm not sure about the last one. Maybe Raw Power by the Stooges? It's more of that "proto punk" horse shit, but it's still good. I haven't heard enough of the punk classics (Kick Out the Jams, anything by Bad Brains, Pink Flag, et cetera) to make a really accurate response.

Well...

At least Punk in drublic made that list. Can't say I'm a fan of most emo though.
