What damage to all the computers.......

What damage to all the computers or the to the Internet for that matter if someone created a electro magnetic pulse ?

I just seen some scince guy on telly done a test on how a electro magnetic pulse would have on a home compter.. and in the test enviroment the computer went blank....andeverything was wiped even the bios.

Imagine one of this things in the wrong hands....imagine bank computes and atm machines geting a blast everyones account's would be gone.

Its makeing me worryed that there is such technolagy out there what could wipe everything at a flick of a switch.

And how is this a bitch?

Sorry, I just don't see your complaint, although I'm interested in whatever you're talking about...

If someone wiped my computers with an EMP, I think I'd have to kill. And not just that person... I'd go on a rampage. You'd hear about me on the evening news.

Go see Goldeneye again .

As far as the internet is concerned, it will still function just as normal. There are 13 main naming servers located all over the world in secure locations. While I doubt their sheilded from EMP's their distributed nature means all but one couls die and the internet would still function. It's just that some of the servers that host some sites would be dead.

Distributed systems can be very tollerant to faults or catastrophic failure at one site. There has been much interest in this area since 11th September when many companies lost masses of data.
