Holocaust Memorial Day
Today is officially Holocaust Memorial Day (27th January). Its a day to reflect on all those who have perished or been affected by the Holocaust of World War II or indeed other genocidal events in more recent history.
Sections of peoples who were murdered by the Nazis; Jews - 6,000,000 approx Gypsies - 200,000 approx Trade Unionists - unknown Blacks - unknown Slavs - 2,000,000 - approx Mentally & physically handicapped - unknown Homosexuals - 15,000 approx The Victims Holocaust Memorial Day website The Nizkor Project ""They came for the Communists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Catholic. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak out for me." Pastor Martin Niemoller We must remember, so that we can stop this happening again. It's been said that I could start an arguement in an empty room.....I see no reason to disbelieve this. |

God Bless You, for putting this here, marvin.
Thank you, also, for that famous quote my English mum drilled into my head! |

I wanted to post this thread tonight but you were faster Marvin...well I think it's very important to remember, I'm German and think of this history more than only on this one day of the year but it's good that there is a day to maybe make some people sit down and think about all the terrible things that have happened during WWII...
![]() I know and love that quote too Mia

Yes, thanks marvin.
I've said it before, I'd have fought and died against the nazis. Unfortunately I was born 45 years too late.... I also feel for the 20,000,000 Russians. I would die to save but one child.

It's horrific, just to read that short article on the Victims of the Holocaust. If Hitler hadn't been stopped, what would our world be like today? Thank you, marvin, for posting what we should never forget.

I don't think that anyone can forget what that lunatic and his followers did to the world. The only thing we can do is learn from that and try to make this world a more peaceful place.

Exactly everyone. Thats the whole point of this day, to remember and ensure that this never happens again.
