How-To:Opening The Required Ports When Using Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall.
If you use the built-in Windows XP Internet Connection Firewall, this tutorial will explain the steps involved in opening the necessary ports to use DNAS and the DSP.
We will be using the basic ports, 8000 and 8001. We also have our start menu's in category view. Click Start. Click Control Panel. Click Network and Internet Connections. Click Network Connections. (See Picture) Read on to next post for more... yeah, i'm back. |

Type In Music Broadcast as the description
127.0.0.1 as the IP address Enter port number 8000 (or whatever port you need to open)(Should be the saame for internal and external) see picture Click Ok, Now you will be broought back to the window with a list in it, and now you will see music broadcast in the list. Make sure there is a check next to it. yeah, i'm back. |

Repeat the last step, only use port 8001 instead of 8000, and name it music broadcast 2.
Now, make sure both music broadcasts in the list have a checkmaark in the box on their left side. Now your server should work, and you should be able to broadcast to the world. If you are a virus freak like me, you can go back, and uncheck the 2 music broadcasts, and click ok, to close the ports when you are done broadcasting, and then when you want to go back on air, just go in, and replace the checks. yeah, i'm back. |

its starting to really annoy me, everyones giving advice but none of it is working. i give up. shoutcast and xp dont mix. i think they should create a file that opens the necessary ports and configures your system for you automatically somehow

Follow the instructions and do it for both connections.
Then restart your connections and shoutcast. It's working with Windows XP Firewall!!!
