March 2004 - Your Favourites?

Bangkok Impact - Frisky Disko

One of the bands taking part in the Vynalogica project. Snip from Discogs:

"The Centre for Electronic music (CEM) in Amsterdam has started this new label. The label is devoted to a unique project: What would happen when you take modern dance-music artists and lock them up in an antique electronical music studio of 40-years ago, complete with analogue synths and stone-age beat boxes? CEM invites some artists to record the material for a vinyl EP in their analogue studio, which is then released on Vynalogica. Later on Vynalogica will release a compliltion cd of all the contributions to the project. Vynalogica is distributed by Clone Records."

I've always liked this group. They've always had a good vibe to their music, and have not been afraid to try out some new stuff.

Luxx - Luxx

A very cool rock band with a woman lead singer. The only bad thing is that they broke up and their CD's are out of print. I was lucky enough to find a used one on Amazon.com and just got it in the mail today. Now to hunt for thier other CD.

<cylob> Figured you'd like to know that I did finally start getting into Curve, at least "Coast is Clear." Any other songs they did that sound like that? The other ones I've downloaded I don't like at all but I like Coast enough that I keep searching and deleting.

My best albums this month are:
Metallica - The Black Album
&
Incubus - Morning View

Both of which I hadn't heard any of their music until seeing recommendations for them on this forum

An album of melancholy 'love songs'. Synth-driven sound, but the lyrics are the real star.

You're right, that is a good album. Not very often a female singer doesn't completely ruin a heavy metal song.

And coming in at the end of the month...

Sevendust - Seasons
2003
Rock

From AMG:
Seasons is far from a happy CD. But it's a compelling CD -- perhaps too dark for some listeners, but compelling nonetheless -- and Sevendust continues to live up to its high standards throughout the band's fourth album

For once I agree with them.

I don't know...... too much indie rock screws me up. About 80% of my collection must be in that vein.

I need some electroclash.
