BOOTP helpp pleassse
hey all,
someone messed with my pc yesterday, and i am getting this message at startup, this is before the windows xp black loading screen appears. TCP/IP Boot PROM ... Detecting Adateper.... BootP.... and the cursor is after the 4th dot and it stays there i waited for like 20 mins and it stayed there it didn't load anymore, then i press anykey and it goes to windows normally, but it is pissing me off how i have to press anykey everytime before i got to windows, whats BootP and how can i disable it from coming up. thanx a lot. Your network card is trying a diskless boot.
First, go into your BIOS setup and try and find an option (probably under PCI devices) about PXE bootup. Disable it. Failing that, go into the BIOS boot sequence setup and make sure "boot from hard disk" takes precedence over "boot over the network" (or something like that). If that doesn't work too, watch the startup messages for a prompt that says something like "Press Ctrl+F2 to enter <insert network card manufacturer here> PXE boot PROM setup". Then press that key combination. You will enter a setup utility for your network card. Disable network boot from there. |
