George Michael to allow free downloads

George Michael is to retire from the music business. He will continue to make music, but will offer it free to download on the internet. He will ask people to make a donation, which he will then give away to charity.

Michael has said he has made more than enough money.

Don't like his music, but fair play to the man.

Story

It's been said that I could start an arguement in an empty room.....I see no reason to disbelieve this.

I don't believe it.

But then, he's had more than his share of trouble with Sony. Well done George.

My thoughts exactly, I think it is a nice gesture - if he will really do that - and may other artists follow in his footsteps!

Same here, I don't like his music but good move that others should follow

I think his music is no longer commercially viable... this move makes sense.

hehe I was speaking to a music producer a few months ago now and many record compnaies were hesitant to offer Geogre Michael a recoring contract. So he release a single or two without major backing if they sold really well he would have got offered a decent record deal.

They did not sell well. And now George says he has enough money and want to give away free....so nothing to do with the fact the record companies did not want him then.

How can you say that however when he has a Sony recording deal in his back pocket and a new album due out some time in '04?

I can't say I'm a George fan, Mrs Jones has a few of his albums, some of his later stuff is ok and quite listenable, and good for getting the ladies in da mood for lurve, which is strange when you consider...

if he can't sell it anymore he should consider making a lot of people happy by ending his career and never make another album again.

that would please me far more than giving away his awfull music for free.

and for a title to his next album ( seen above in one of the posts)

how about "songs about picking up guys in public bathrooms" just a random thought about a title for it

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.
