winamp 5 freeform

i thought about starting a freeform winamp skin,
so decided to start reading the tutorial thats listed in one of these threads,
got to page two and it felt like it was taking forever gettin the right files in place an all,

so i dcided to rename a freeform skin to zip and open it up to see what is involved,
and believe me,
THERE`S A LOT INVOLVED!

a quick scan of the files leeds me to believe that freeform skinning aint for the faint hearted or someone that has`nt done one before

so to all the skinners that have done a freeform skin i respect you all from now on

allthough i wont be making a freeform skin now or pobably ever as there`s just to much coding to sort out

just thought i`d let people know my opinion on this subject

it's not that hard. i started out about 2 weeks ago and it looked like a mammoth task, but i know lots more stuff now. i'm getting heavily into maki. just finished my very own script last night to fade out the display and then fade in a secondary display. I've almost finished the main window/eq. working on gamma sets right now, then when i get all that done i'll sort out the other components. All that in 2 weeks.

Its easy once you know what to do.

I'm programming a project at the moment that will write and manage everything for you. So that means you don't have to know how to write Xml or maki to do the usual tasks

hey dark, we all have to start sumwhere...what i did to start was go thru other peoples skins, and fiddle around with the positioning of things to figure out what things did..i then moved on to making my own graphics and moving them around..then eventually made the huge step to writing it all in xml by myself...it looks like a big task and yeah it is when ur only like 14ish trying to learn...ive been doing it for over a year now and ive finally got basic maki down so it all just takes time and practice..i would have made about 5 or 6 skins before i actually fully completed one and even when i did that one it never got submitted. keep working on it and u will get it eventually
