Best bit of shouting
A lot of the music I listen to (metal, thrash etc) contains a lot of shouting, but what is the best bit of shouting in a song ever?
I'm still pondering this question, but I have a contender for the most impressive. On Monkey Wrench by the Foo Fighters, Dave shouts the longest sentence ever shouted in one breath (a whole verse): One last thing before I quit I never wanted any more than I could fit into my head I still remember every single word you said And all the shit that somehow came along with it There's still one thing that comforts me Since I was always caged and now I'm free "We think science is interesting and if you disagree, you can fuck off." |

Soulfly - Son Song
Dust myself up and I scream at the sky It's been so hard but I can't let it die Turn my head up, looking at the stars So many years, I still wonder where you are? Dust myself up and I scream at the sky Every day I ask myself why? So much pain pouring from inside Above me I feel the spirit fly <quiet> And every moment is precious. And everything will turn to dust... |

had to be in bold Hard to pick a favorite, maybe Do It: The scream at the beginning is enough to blow all imitators away. |

Nobody can match the shouting skills of alot of goth rock bands...Take Slipknot, for example...
"I just want to lie in my own crusty filth, eating rancid egg sandwiches, until some unfortunate paramedic has to blow down my door to find my bloated and pasty corpse wedged between the nightstand and mattress stained with Bengay and Robitussin DM." - Greg Gutfeld on sex and seniors "Syphilis does not stay in Vegas. Debt collectors do not stay in Vegas. Dead hookers stay in Vegas, but the guilt stays with you forever." - Bill Schultz |

On second thought, i'm one for Children of Bodom myself in the right mood. Good ol' fashioned melodic death metal.

The Human League - Love Action (1981) "I believe, I believe what the old man said Though I know that there's no lord above I believe in me, I believe in you And you know I believe in love I believe in truth though I lie a lot I feel the pain from the push and shove No matter what you put me through I'll still believe in love And I say" |

the bit at the beginning of "when good dogs do bad things" by DEP with mike patton is brilliant... "I'M THE BEST YOU'LL EVER HAVE!"
that whole EP ("irony is a dead scene") is a fantastic resource for exemplary atypical singing and shouting. but it is mike patton singing, so i guess it's just to be expected. |
