I've been avoiding this album...... I knew I'd like it. Bollox! Now I have to acquire 5 or 6 more dreampop bands.

Funny, how a band modelled on Suede can sound utterly nothing like them. And that's no bad thing!

Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See (1993)

Genre: Adult Alternative Pop/Rock, Dream Pop

Recommended by ScorLibran. I find this to be a very relaxing album, almost like someone massaging your back! I like Mazzy Star, they only did 3 albums (just 2 more to collect).

I've only got two Mazzy Star songs A friend of mine back in high school had that cd, Cylob. But, I'm relieved to know that I'm not the only one to remember this group

Right now, my fave for this month has to be the cd I got from spaceplay It only has about 160 tracks

This one is a bit of a surprise to me. But I just found that they were the ones who sung 'Tomorrow'. I've been trying to figure it out for a long time.

Not a problem..... just hire your own container vessel.

P&O do good rates (I used to work in the industry). You'd have to use the Panama Canal of course - that's a little extra. But come on - anything for ShyShy.

Here's an idea..... we can all have a jolly and ride on the vessel! And listen to spaceplayradio all the way. Ideal.

A very lively album......... you can see how acid house evolved into ambient techno. Very well done.

I might have to get that. I have Lifeforms by FSOL, which is a quality album, and The Isness/The Otherness by Amorphous Androgynous (FSOL by another name).

Electronic - Electronic (1991)

I've finally discovered this album. At first, I was unimpressed by the first two tracks but then, the keyboard gimmick at the beginning of "Tighten Up" put the album back on track. Most excellent songs here and as always, Pet Shop Boys steal the show, especially on "Getting Away With It" (fantastic song which Tennant claimed was an attack against Morrissey ). Been listening to it all morning and it keeps getting better. Also, it's very interesting to hear some songs that clearly inspired some of the tracks on New Order's "Republic" which was released two years after : "Special" was already in "Some Distant Memory", and "Everyone Everywhere" in "Feel Every Beat".

Will definitely get the other two (only Cylob will get this methinks)

I definitely get it.......

I prefer it to Republic, it carries more force. But it's probably better to hear Electronic/Electronic first (1991), then New Order/Republic (1993) second (as god intended). You're right 'seer......... on a first listen it sounds average, but it gets better all the time. Why? There are so many hidden hooks in the music.

It was in my all-time top-ten for years (yes I keep a top ten)! But, it's been pushed out by the likes of Stereolab, Broadcast, The Jesus & Mary Chain, Clan of Xymox.

BTW, Bernard did exactly the same again....... Electronic/Twisted Tenderness (1999) sounds more than a bit like New Order/Get Ready (2001). If fact, Get Ready is more like Electronic than New Order........ perhaps down to Gil's absence. But both of these albums are MUST HAVES!

Now, back to some work! Shit, someone's had my pen!

And another album to have:

Monaco - Music For Pleasure (1997)

When I first heard 'What Do You Want From Me' on the radio I thought 'Yay! New Order! Then I thought, no......... Electronic?' But neither.

This album's at least as good as Republic. Probably better.
