let me guess: you added some borders to the texture and put them on a properly resized shape, am i correct?

btw: isn't max(x3,-x3) the same as abs(x3)?

Here's something i just made now with the same technique. Very unfinished and slow but why not eh.

this would be a lot faster i think

Then they'd all be black or yellow at the same time, i have however formulated a plan for speed-up and increased coolness. It shall be a finished preset yet.

i have a texture generator for you
it uses a 1-point SSC, an nw*nh-point SSC and a movement.
and it generates the thing you had in buffer1
