It's not really affecting us unless you're ripping music using some tool.

False. It does effect us because they want us to install macrovision like technology into our streams. It ain't gonna happen. Them and the FCC have been figuring a way to do this, of course without our input, and enough is enough. Any legislation that is passed which affects me negatively, will result in a lawsuit back this time.
When they threaten me i have no problem, when they cause me to do things to improve their bottom line, and get nothing in return, thats when i have a problem. We have taken the necessary, reasonable, protections against the pirates. thats all we can do. I Make. Perform. Mix. Play. Music. |

Killer, I was talking about my station, not everyone in general. Sorry for the confusion there.

Well put, though, Killer. I know that you've taken all the legal actions to ensure that your station is 100% legal and ripper free. It'll be a real shame (for you and them.. and of course, listeners) if they decide to attack good, honest radios like yours.

Indeed expecially considering how easy it is to disable Macrovision and copy things anyway. Technology is too advanced - any form of copy protection I've seen is usually defeated by a six year old kid.

Fuck the RIAA! We either own the CD or receive legal advance copies from the bands or labels of everything we play. Groups like the RIAA need to focus on things more important like keeping child porn off the net or how to prevent our next billion dollar war over oil while pretending to be hunting terrorist! Of course, we can't forget in this thread, we all also need to give a shoutout to the great Tipper Gore

STUPID!
This is starting to really get to me. I am into FM radio and net radio as well. This bullshit I always hear about this shit is nonsence. Why the hell can't the RIAA just shut the hell up about this danm shit. They cry over every little thing we do with music like they own the shit we bought. I am sick of it. BMI and ASCAP soak money out of radio stations for the music we play, istn't that enough insted of adding the RIAA boohooin' over shit. Jeez FM radio pays nearly $2000/month for the music they play and on top of that an extra $300 to stream weather you stream your station or not and if you do stream your station, that tak another 500 onto the 300. Thats like getting a danm doctor bill just becasue you are able to go to the doctor or pass the hospital and when you got to go to the hospital, you still have to pay even more just for being there. SAME THING then the RIAA comes in crying the blues over shit. I am sorry, even in the radio bussiness, $15-$20 for ONE CD is was to danm much and maybe one or two hits on the thing and its no wonder downloading and net radio works so well. There is WAY to much controll of music the radio and even people do with music. NONSENCE.
