Colors an issue for me, it's seems all my monitors are different. I've tried a couple online and wasn't impressed with the results.

I don't like the color callibration programs because my eyes can't alwys make out the small differences they look for

LOL! Well yeah.. but I'm into photo editing, so I kinda need it, part of the mistake was buying this particular monitor with only a 450:1 contrast ratio, oh well, another in a year or two

assuming that you're using photoshop for your editing, Adobe Gamma comes with it for free, and does a decent job. Just get someone with good vision to do all your monitors.

If you only have an analoge d-sub input on your (otherwise totally digital) monitor, then bad luck! DO NOT PM ME WITH TECH SUPPORT QUESTIONS |

LCDs still tend to be a bit shitty colour-wise, regardless of the interface.
The Adobe colour stuff works well enough for me. If you're not printing anything out, then there's not that much use in calibrating because everyones' monitors are different. If you are, then there's no subsitute for proofs on a proper profiled colour printer.
